I wish I could give it no star. I had a terrible experience at 1st Family Dental at Burr Ridge and feel completely misled by their shady billing and insurance practices. I originally went in for a routine cleaning, but instead of providing that, they insisted I needed a deep cleaning—which now feels like a tactic to get more money out of me. During that visit, I inquired about a dental implant and had two separate consultations before proceeding. At no point did they properly check my insurance coverage.

Now, after already paying over $1,000, I’ve been blindsided with another $1,000 bill because my insurance won’t cover the implant due to a missing tooth clause—something they should have checked upfront since they knew I had a missing tooth. Instead of taking accountability, they blamed the insurance company for not disclosing it, yet they can’t provide any proof that they even asked my insurance about this crucial detail. They will say anything to get you started on a procedure and then shift the blame, knowing there’s nothing protecting the patient once treatment begins. Now, I’m HALFWAY THROUGH the implant process and have no idea what to do. I’m stuck either paying thousands more out of pocket or being left with an unfinished procedure.

This practice is a scam, and I do not recommend this office to anyone. If you’re considering any major dental work here, BEWARE! Triple-check everything yourself or go somewhere that actually cares about patient transparency. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

I specifically asked for an in network dentist when making my appointment. I also informed them when I was at the office that I wanted an in network dentist. I was provided a proposed treatment plan. Insurance is only an estimate, they could not figure out how to bill my insurance. My insurance is Metlife dental. this is a well known insurance company. I had to get the information and x-rays sent to my insurance for payment.

At no point during the visit was I informed that an out of network provider was possibly performing the service. When I received the bill and asked about the out of network work provider. I quote there statement “they are not required by law to disclose that they switched you to an out of network provider. Only doctors and hospitals have to disclose out of network providers. They are not a doctors office or hospital. You just have to pay the bill. Buyer beware they have a few in network dentist and periodontists.

They do not honor your request to only have in-network providers. Frankly, it appears they bait and switch. Honesty is always the best, this is very dishonest. Service was fair at best and then the bill was just over the top.

Dr. Sandy Mourad was an absolutely horrible experience. She walked into my appointment, didn’t acknowledge me, and proceeded to be extremely rough for my teeth fillings. I said multiple times that it was hurting but she changed nothing.

She jerked me around and was extremely unprofessional. She abruptly left the appointment without explaining any post procedure protocol. I will definitely will never have another appointment with Mourad.

Dr. Sandy is the best, she was extremely helpful and I wished we had gone here sooner. She pulled out my wisdom teeth very quickly and I did not feel any pain at all! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!
