She further specialized in pediatric dentistry, completing a one-year general practice residency at the University of Mississippi and a two-year pediatric dentistry residency at Howard University College of Dentistry. Her commitment to service is also evident from her time in the Army Reserves from 1987-2000, where she received multiple awards.
