Detailed Introduction

Abingdon Pediatric Dentistry is a specialized dental clinic located at 465 W Main St, Abingdon, VA 24210. The practice is spearheaded by Dr. Evelyn M. Rolon, DMD, a pediatric dentistry practitioner. Dr. Rolon and her team focus on providing comprehensive oral healthcare specifically tailored for infants, children, adolescents, and children with special needs. This specialization means they have undergone additional training to understand the unique dental requirements and behavioral management techniques necessary for treating younger patients. The clinic offers a range of pediatric dental services, which may include preventive care (such as cleanings and fluoride treatments), restorative procedures (like fillings), and potentially more specialized treatments for conditions common in children. They accept various insurance plans, including traditional insurances, Medicaid, and Delta Dental PPO, aiming to make their services accessible to a wider community. While the practice name suggests a clinic environment, Dr. Rolon is the named practitioner, indicating she is a key part of the establishment. Reviews suggest the clinic aims to create an environment suitable for children, though some patient feedback indicates areas for improvement in customer service and communication.

Worst dentist I've ever been to in my life the so called dental assistant literally tried to pull my son out of my arm's while I was trying to comfort him and assure him it was ok to go back by himself and she scared him even more pulling on his arm like he was NOTHING all while yelling that she had work to do and didn't have time for his crying and he was 3 year's old! Out of motherly instinct I told her to take her hands off my son and she still tried to convince me he had to go back that I wouldn't receive a refund because my son was "a cry baby momma's boy" as she said I wouldn't recommend anyone to take their children to this dentist because the first time you can go back but the second your not allowed to know anything the receptionist is completely rude when I asked for my money back due to the assistant's actions when she finally gave me my refund I watched the same assistant do the same thing to 2 other children!! They may have all the fun and playful thing's for children to be amused but the service and respect is awful.

Don't buy into the fun kid friendly dentistry it's far from that after the first visit.

The office has some cool stuff for kids while they're waiting to be seen but it is absolutely not worth what you have to put up with from the staff. The receptionist wasn't very nice and friendly but she wasn't horrible either. She just seemed snooty. My 5 year old was getting xrays and my 3 year old started whining because we had been waiting for an hour to be seen. I was walking down the hall carrying her while my husband stayed with my son. I walked to the end of the hall and we were talking about an Olaf cut out they had when the office manager came out of a room and very rudely and condescendingly told me I needed to go stay with my son.

My son ended up needing to have general anesthesia and I had to take him to his pediatrician to get a physical before the surgery. The pediatrician said he couldn't have it at that time due to a cough and sent that info to Dr. Rollins office. I also called and told them. Around 2 weeks went by before his cough started to subside. This is when we found out that they had canceled my son as a patient because we didn't call back soon enough to reschedule his surgery.

It's like they literally got mad that we followed his doctor's orders. I've never been to a care provider that treated their patients as poorly as the whole staff, in general, does at this office. You get the feeling when you're talking to them that if you don't or can't do exactly what or how they would like, they won't see you. I honestly don't know how they're still in business.

Horrible and unprofessional. I've had several appointments scheduled for my 9 year old, I had to cancel one due to her illness but I gave them greater than 24hrs notice (I've worked in physician's offices before, so I know how this works!) We had two that she was actually seen, THEY canceled one back in December, the dentist's husband called me before 7am from their home and said someone would call me to reschedule (they didn't), so when I called them a couple days later to do so myself, I got a "we'll have to discuss it with the doctor and we'll call you back" (they didn't). Today I got another phone call to cancel ANOTHER appointment! We will be finding someone else even though our insurance prefers this provider.

I will be letting our insurance know about this as well so they'll take her off their preferred provider list.

Waited in the car for almost 2 hours after we checked in. My young son, who hadn't been to the dentist in a while was also asked to go by himself with strangers. I understand Covid restrictions. I'm still going to go with him. If you want an appointment in the afternoon, forget it. They have a strict schedule for who they'll see when--if they happen to be open.

Be prepared to have your appointment moved or cancelled a day beforehand, regardless of whether or not you asked for the time off of work three weeks ago. I feel like their taking advantage of people who need their kids to be seen sometime in the next two years. The dental system in this area is ridiculous. . .
