A nightmare!! I was examined by Dr Alford and told that tooth #7 needed to be extracted. I was not told that this was a front tooth. I was told however that the tooth could not be replaced for 8 weeks, in order for for my gums to heal. If I had known that this was a front tooth I would have asked for options on saving it.
If it was not saveable I would have insisted that a temporary tooth be made and placed immediately after the extraction. These are choices I feel any competent dentist should have offered to their patient. Who would be comfortable walking around without a front tooth for several weeks? Why did they assume I would be? After the extraction I was Livid! When I complained initially I was laughed at, then told they could make me a temporary for $600. I felt like I had been setup and blindsided.
I later had a temporary tooth done by another dentist for which I paid $200. In my opinion this is a practice for charity cases or Medicaid recipients who don't have many options. My advice is to avoid these folks if you have choices.
