Detailed Introduction

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is a prominent integrated healthcare delivery system headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a non-profit organization, AHN is dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate healthcare services to communities across Western Pennsylvania and bordering regions of Ohio and West Virginia. AHN operates a robust network of 14 hospitals, including Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, which serves as its flagship academic and transplant center. The network also includes five tertiary-care hospitals, four community hospitals, and four "neighborhood hospitals," designed to offer convenient access to care. Beyond its hospitals, AHN boasts over 300 clinical locations, including health and wellness pavilions, ambulatory surgery centers, and a comprehensive research institute (AHN Research Institute). A subsidiary of Highmark Health, one of the largest integrated healthcare delivery and financing systems in the United States, AHN benefits from a broader network of resources and support. AHN's services span a vast spectrum of medical specialties, including but not limited to: Primary Care: Family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics. Specialty Care: Cardiology, oncology (cancer care), orthopaedics, neurology, gastroenterology, dermatology, endocrinology, infectious diseases, nephrology, pulmonology, rheumatology, and sleep medicine. Surgical Services: General surgery, bariatric surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedic surgery, and more, often incorporating advanced robotic and minimally invasive techniques. Dental Medicine: As indicated by the "AGH Division of Dental Medicine," AHN provides comprehensive dental services, including general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and oral and maxillofacial surgery (e.g., through affiliations like Allegheny Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery). Emergency and Trauma Care: A network of emergency departments and trauma centers, including LifeFlight air medical transport. Women's and Children's Services: Including labor and delivery, high-risk obstetrical services, and neonatal intensive care units. Behavioral Health: Psychiatry and mental health services. Rehabilitation Services: Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other rehabilitative programs. Home Health and Hospice: Providing care in patients' homes. AHN is committed to medical education and research, serving as a clinical campus for medical schools like Duquesne University, Drexel University, and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. It also operates two nursing schools. The network leverages advanced technologies, such as Epic's "Look-Alikes" tool for diagnosing rare diseases, demonstrating its commitment to innovation and patient-centered care. With a workforce of approximately 23,000 employees and 2,600 affiliated physicians, AHN strives to deliver high-quality, accessible, and integrated healthcare to improve the health and well-being of the communities it serves.

The absolute most uncompassionate dental office one could ever encounter. Rude inattentive staff with unwarranted attitudes, which leads patients to being uncomfortable. Will remove a patient from their office without thought or warning, for any reason they see fit.

The great part of the visit-- Dr. Popovich is a wonderful dentist. He was thorough but not rushed, so it didn't feel like I was in a dentist mill. He answered my questions, even going back and looking at my x-rays and teeth after I asked a question about something another dentist said about 10 years ago. The hygienist (who's name I unfortunately forget) was very friendly, efficient, & professional.

She told me what she was doing & where I had stains. We discussed whitening, and she gave her professional and personal experiences. The less great part--The office staff was supposed to send me paperwork because I was a new patient. They didn't. When they called to confirm my appointment, I provided my fax number for the paperwork and she seemed put out by the request (& it was never sent).

When I arrived for my appointment, the receptionist seemed disappointed I didn't have the paperwork with me. Wasn't sure how I was supposed to have paperwork that was never sent to me. Also, they make you fill out paperwork every year to ensure they gave your correct name and address. So leave a little extra time at the first exam of the year (the dentists typically recommend 2 exams per year).

You need to hire more professional and trained people who handle scheduling, phone calls and reminders. You need to held them responsible and have people giving you feedback on their performance. The hygienist, doctors and people working in the back office are just wonderful though.

I found a dentist here through my insurance and on her own she had good reviews and another dentist affiliated with this office too…. they take my insurance and the dentists themselves had positive reviews so I was hopeful to schedule an appointment here and have a good experience but I couldn’t get past how rude the receptionist was. Going to the dentist can be scary and stressful.

You don’t want to be immediately greeted with rudeness upon calling to inquire about an appointment. Bummer!
