My experience with Aspen Dental in Hastings, Minnesota, was one of the most disorganized and frustrating dental visits I’ve ever had. I called about discomfort from a broken tooth—not an emergency—and accepted their offer of a Saturday appointment. However, their lack of communication and professionalism made the situation far worse. Before my appointment, I provided my insurance information and submitted a medical records release form. Despite this, when I arrived, they claimed they couldn’t verify my insurance or locate any records. Adding to the confusion, I later noticed that just five minutes before my appointment, they had sent me an email asking to reschedule. I didn’t see this email in time, and I never received a phone call. No one mentioned the reschedule request when I arrived, which made the already disorganized experience feel even more dismissive.

When the dentist finally saw me, he told me I needed a crown but emphasized multiple times that they couldn’t guarantee any services would be done that day. He had to call in the office manager, who echoed the same “no guarantees” line. I explained that I had already provided my insurance information, but they had failed to verify it. The office manager told me, “Oh, you don’t have insurance—I’ll put a coupon on here. ” I corrected her, stating that I did have insurance, but they hadn’t verified it. She then backtracked, saying, “Oh, that’s right—I remember now, we couldn’t reach the insurance company. ” The entire staff seemed dismissive and uncoordinated, leaving me feeling like an inconvenience rather than a patient. To make matters worse, I later discovered from another dentist that I didn’t even need a crown—just a filling.

This only added to the frustration, as their inability to verify insurance and communicate clearly compounded the situation. Ultimately, I found relief at River Valley Dental, where the experience was completely different. They got me in the next business day, verified my insurance, and resolved the issue permanently within 24 hours. Aspen Dental’s failure to communicate, verify insurance, and provide basic patient care is unacceptable. From the reschedule email sent minutes before my appointment to the conflicting information about my treatment, every step felt chaotic and unprofessional. If you value organized, patient-focused care, avoid Aspen Dental at all costs. River Valley Dental is where I found the professionalism and attention I needed.

I honestly Love the Dentist and his assistants! The young lady at the front desk NOT so much. She misinformed me on every aspect of my visit! I guess her nonchalant attitude is what rubbed me the wrong way. Especially when she’s the one who scheduled my visit. Otherwise my rating would’ve been 5⭐️
