Detailed Introduction

Aspen Dental is an American dental support organization (DSO) that was founded in 1998 by Robert Fontana. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Aspen Dental provides comprehensive business and administrative support services to a vast network of independently owned and operated dental practices across the United States. This model allows dentists to focus primarily on delivering clinical care, while Aspen Dental handles non-clinical aspects such as marketing, scheduling, human resources, and procurement. Aspen Dental's core mission is to make dental care more accessible, affordable, and transparent for a wide range of patients. They particularly aim to serve individuals who may face financial barriers or do not have a regular relationship with traditional dentistry practices. To achieve this, Aspen Dental-branded offices are often located in areas identified as "dental deserts" where access to dental providers is limited. The services offered by Aspen Dental practices are extensive and cover various aspects of oral health. These include general dentistry (e.g., cleanings, fillings, root canals), cosmetic dentistry (e.g., teeth whitening, veneers, clear aligners like Motto®), restorative dentistry (e.g., crowns, bridges, dentures), and specialized procedures like dental implants and oral surgery (including tooth extractions and wisdom teeth removal). Over the years, Aspen Dental has grown significantly. As of recent information, the network includes over 1,100 locations nationwide, serving millions of patients annually. The company emphasizes a patient-centered approach, aiming to provide a comfortable, judgment-free environment. Aspen Dental Management, Inc. rebranded its parent company as The Aspen Group (TAG) in 2021, reflecting its expansion beyond just dental services into a broader healthcare support organization. TAG now supports various healthcare brands, including ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers, WellNow Urgent Care, and Chapter Aesthetic Studio. A notable initiative by Aspen Dental is its "Healthy Mouth Movement" and "Practice Ownership Program." The Healthy Mouth Movement focuses on providing free dental care to U.S. veterans and underserved communities. The Practice Ownership Program, launched in 2004, empowers dentists within the Aspen Dental network to become practice owners, fostering an entrepreneurial spirit while still benefiting from the robust support system of the DSO. This program has been instrumental in the company's growth, allowing dentists to build equity in their own practices. While Aspen Dental has faced some scrutiny regarding its business model and patient billing practices in the past, it continues to emphasize its commitment to providing quality, affordable care and breaking down barriers to oral health for a broad population.

I’m surprised this place has 4 stars, if I could give it zero I would. The first visit was not so bad, a typical dentist visit with a little wait but not a big deal. The second time I had gone I had an appointment for 9 Am. I showed up early before they opened at 8:45 per their request (to show up 15 mins prior to your appointment). I then proceeded to wait 2 hours before even being seated for a procedure that I was told would be a quick in and out.

Then I waited in the room and didn’t finish my treatment until 11. I even had to reschedule a client meeting! I was not planning on leaving reviews as I don’t like to be negative, however the icing on the cake was when I got the bill. The “estimated” amount that I would need to pay was 80 or so based on my insurance plan that I had provided all the information for. Come to find that I need to pay the full amount (850)! I called my insurance and they said that the treatment was never covered on my plan to begin with. The information that was presented was very misleading and had I know it would cost the full amount I wouldn’t have done it.

This place must have poor management or some other factor because the people there are nice. The only reason I got sat down in the first place was that the receptionist saw that I had been waiting for a long time. I would never wish this to anyone and would steer clear if possible. I wish I could have left a positive review…

Going on week three now and all I wanted to do was verify my insurance before my first appointment. Every time I call the receptionist says she will call me back. I have no missed calls from them. I was also told that she would call me back the Friday before my appointment to verify details it is now Monday and I am on home with her while she calls my insurance to verify. This is how dentist offices get over on you, they let you just come in and get whatever done knowing that your insurance is not in network.

I’m sure the dentist is great but the receptionist staff is low quality. Please understand that who you hire is a direct reflection of how you run your business. 0/10.

I went here twice with one for an emergency extraction and a cleaning. I went to an Aspen Dental prior in Savannah and I advised the front desk of that so she didn’t charge me and counted me as a new patient because of being a different location from what I was told. During my extraction the dentist noticed that and later sent me a bill stating I’m not a new patient. . I ended up not paying that fee but the dentist was harsh about it, she acted disgusted because of the amount of cavities and seemed irritated because it’s been long since my last visit.

Came back for a cleaning and the lady was rough as hell whoever did that. I’m new to this state and reputation of poor customer service is not a flying rumors and I believe they was playing future. Then to pay a hefty amount out of pocket for the services the experience isn’t worth it. As a dental office it’s okay to be more chill and interpersonal with your customers. It’s not that deep to come off any other way.

You’re making money and in a great profession most will love to in. I get folks go through things but its all a blessing.

I had two procedures done in one day and two me that was amazing! I had a deep clean and two cavities filled. During both appointments everyone was gentle and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to find a dentist.
