I had been experiencing tooth pain for 2 days. Aspen Dental in Butler, PA was able to fit me in the next day. We live some distance away, but they accepted my Physicians’ Mutual Insurance too which was a blessing on a retired fixed income that inflation as ravaged.

They were friendly, professional, caring and mentioned a low cost $29 for exam & X-rays if I had problems paying. I gave a planning care moving forward with them.

If I could give zero stars I would!!!! This was my first visit there and ONLY went because my usual dentist was so booked up and it would be months till I could get in for a cleaning. I have gone to the dentist regularly since a young age so really didn’t think anything of making an appointment with aspen since they could get me in right away. Well then I find out my first appointment they do not do a cleaning but instead extensive X-rays then schedule a cleaning for another date. Which was also fine cause I could still get in right away following my first xray appointment. I felt rushed and very overwhelmed there. I was informed I would need a special deep cleaning, crown and tooth extraction.

Then was taken to the billing lady to find out I would owe $500 out of pocket for these things. Still in disbelief of everything, especially since in all my years of going to the dentist I have never had to pay out of pocket before and aspen was in network with my insurance. And was hesitant to have all this work done when I have never needed this before. I scheduled the deep cleaning for the following month and went home. It didn’t sit right with me so the next morning I called my regular dentist and explained the situation. Luckily they had a cleaning cancellation for that same day so they got me in.

Thank goodness I went for a second opinion. No deep cleaning needed, no tooth extraction necessary and I do not have a cavity where aspen was going to place a crown!!!! All that was needed was a regular cleaning. I am so upset aspen can scam patients out of money and preform unnecessary procedures on them!!!! This is predatory behavior and super upsetting they are doing this to people.

I had an emergency appointment today. Karen was my dental hygienist and she was so sweet and caring. I didn't feel pressured to get more work done than I went for! They took care of my problem. I was happy with my visit. Only complaint is I hate novocaine and I am still numb 2 hours later, not their fault, just a consequence of the work I needed done. So thank you Aspen Dental! 😊
