A mostly positive experience ruined later, I'm not a fan of dentists and only go in when its an emergency. Several months ago I went in to Aspen dental in St Cloud. Despite having insurance I was looking at close to $2000. I say down with a cute admin person who took all my info what needed to be done.
Everything was broken down and I paid it upfront. The work needing to be done took 3 visits and after each one I made sure I was all settled. Each time I assured I was. A few months passed when suddenly I got a text, a email, two automated phone calls and a letter in the mail almost all at once saying I suddenly owed close to $50 each message had a urgency as if I was hiding from them and refusing to pay.
No explanation why it took so long to inform me, No explanition of what changed or what was added, Just hey deadbeat you owe us this pay now. They tod me once what I owed, I paid it in full, now I owe again months later, who is to say a 3rd bill wont come. For someone who isnt a fan of dentists this doesnt do much to build trust. I wonder had things been cheaper after paying up front would Aspen have been honest enough to give a regund? How may others are told pay 100% upfront until we send you another bill

I set up an appointment here to have some teeth fixed. I can't say that anyone was particularly rude during the visit but they definitely gave off this "I hate my life" kind of vibe for some reason. When it came time to schedule my appointment I was unable to at the time so they said that I could call back to schedule, which I did. The lady on the phone wanted to schedule me for a cleaning so I just simply asked out of curiosity why they weren't doing the extractions first and she told me she needed to talk to the dentist and asked me to wait on hold.
I was totally fine with that and waited around 10 or 15 minutes or so before someone picked up the phone and hung it up without any explanation whatsoever. I thought maybe there was some kind of mistake so I called back just for them to pick up and hang up without a word again. Completely rude and unprofessional behavior. I've never ever ever had a dentist office treat me that way.
They talk a huge game about helping people out but I came here in need and this is how you get treated. For what?

Their billing department is an absolute joke. They entered my insurance information partially wrong, which left me with a co pay. OK, that's fine. I paid what they said my co pay was in full before I left.
A year later, they sent me a bill for over $300 stating my insurance retro activity "didn't cover" some of my procedures and stated that I owe them for a cleaning I NEVER scheduled or came in for. I called my insurance company and explained everything to them, and they took care of the problem. 6 months later, Aspen sent me the same bill and threatened that they would be sending my bill to collections. So I get my insurance on a conference call with Aspen, and Aspen admits on the phone that their records do not match what's on my insurance card.
Seriously, I feel like that was done on purpose by Aspen dental to try and get the patient (me) to pay a bill without ever sending a claim to my insurance on file. Aspen preaches about their "aspen dental peace of mind promise," stating they go above and beyond for the lowest prices and transparency in the industry. Support your local mom and pop dentist office and break away from corporate entities like Aspen Dental.

At first I was skeptical of going to Aspen Dental because of the negative reviews. My first two visits were for second opinion's and I was satisfied with the doctors and staff. My visit today was for a comprehensive exam to set up a cleaning. The office confirmed my appointment at least twice by email. I think I waited 5 minutes or so after checking in before I was taken to a room, and everything went like clockwork! The staff is all friendly, and kept me updated on delays (which were minimal), the Doctor (Dr. Kahn), was very professional and very busy.
I got to see all the ex-rays and everything was explained to me by the staff (something my previous dentist and hygienist didn't do). I have an appointment for next week to get my cleaning done. Aspen Dental took care of all the insurance stuff. I knew the total cost, and how much was my responsibility. So far, So good! I'll keep ya'all posted!
