Detailed Introduction

Auburn Pediatric Dentistry, spearheaded by Dr. Caroline Derrow, DDS, is a well-established pediatric dental clinic located at 1005 Nicholas St, Auburn, IN 46706. Dr. Caroline Derrow, a highly qualified and board-certified pediatric dentist, is committed to providing exceptional oral healthcare for children from infancy through adolescence. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2004 and completed her pediatric specialty certificate at Riley Children's Hospital in 2006, becoming one of only three board-certified pediatric dentists in the top half of Indiana by 2009. Her residency at Riley Children's Hospital provided her with extensive experience in treating children with a wide range of special healthcare needs, including those requiring anesthesia in the operating room. The clinic focuses on creating a safe, welcoming, and fun environment to alleviate children's anxiety about dental visits. Their services encompass a full spectrum of pediatric dental care, including preventative care such as regular exams and cleanings, fluoride treatments, and dental sealants. They also offer restorative procedures like fillings (composite and traditional), crowns, extractions, and in some cases, root canals. Auburn Pediatric Dentistry emphasizes early intervention and education, adhering to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry's guideline that all children should have a dental home by their first birthday. Dr. Derrow and her team are known for their gentle approach and dedication to making each child's experience positive. They utilize state-of-the-art technology, including digital X-rays which significantly reduce radiation exposure, to ensure precise and comfortable care. The practice prioritizes patient and parent education, working in partnership with guardians to promote healthy oral habits at home. They accept most major dental insurances and offer various payment options, including major credit cards and Care Credit. Patients consistently praise the friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere, and the team's ability to make dental visits enjoyable for children.

This is the best dental experience I’ve ever had. I am one to do my research, and found Dr Derrow because she is a Board Certified Pediatric. She has seen all three of my kids since they were babies. She is the most kind, gentle dentist and really truly cares about every child who comes to her office. She takes her time with me, explaining everything, and really puts my kids at ease.

Her entire staff is awesome - everyone so friendly, professional, and very helpful. I especially appreciated help with my insurance, which was a thing! Coming to their office is always welcoming, and my kids even love their dentist. I cannot say enough great things about finding my family’s dental home here.

Do not waste your time and money here. Do not! I wish I would have looked at the reviews before coming. I was so hopeful and excited for this place but it was horrible. The website talks about how they are specialized in children with disabilities and whatnot. My son is autistic and just needs a little more time sometimes. He wasn’t about the process of getting x rays done and after not working with him or offering any other solutions like maybe laughing gas, we were told there was nothing she could do and we need to go to Riley in Indianapolis.

When asked how they would help him better the doctor said she didn’t know because she hadn’t been there in 20 years. I canceled the appointment I had for my other child. This really blows my mind. Don’t advertise yourself as being special in anything when you’re clearly not.

I don’t know how this place stays open. Dr. Derrow told me that my 5 year old daughter needed multiple crowns and fillings and they all needed to be done at one time under general anesthesia at Parkview. That alone was enough to send me spiraling with anxiety and fear for my child, but then I’d also have to pay almost $4,000 out of pocket for this procedure.

Luckily a family member told me I needed to get a second opinion and when I did, the new dentist we saw actually let me go back into the room with my daughter while she had the X-rays and exam (because Dr. Derrow makes parents wait in the waiting room - huge red flag) and he showed me on those X-rays that my daughter really only needed a few simple fillings (NO crowns) and they could be done while she was awake under laughing gas, all for less than $1,000. I even got to sit with my daughter while she had the fillings to keep her calm and happy. I can’t imagine if we hadn’t gone for a second opinion.

I’m sure the dental office will reply to this claiming it’s not true knowing I can’t respond to their reply but I have all the proof that this is 100% true. It’s so wrong to prey on vulnerable parents and children this way.

I wish I would have read the reviews before scheduling an appointment here, now that I see all the negative reviews. Scheduled an appointment and I got sick and couldn’t take my daughter. My daughter’s grandmother took her which I added to the HIPPA contact list and they show up and was denied to be seen because a parent was not there for the first appointment. The receptionist stated she told me this when I made the appointment, which I promise you she did not as if that was required I would have made every effort to for me or her father to be there.

But when you’re not told this how are you suppose to plan that? Then she tried saying it’s a state law for a parent to be there at the first visit. No other dentist has ever required this and the receptionist changed her story and said it’s what their doctor prefers. She was not very kind through this process. I offered to drive there sick but was told no because I would get there just before they closed.

Absolutely insane to deny services to someone because a parent isn’t there and it was not communicated or on any forms I signed when making the visit. Definitely recommend city smiles in Columbia city over this place.
