I had a fracture on an older crown and I was able to see the doctor and her assistant within two hours of contacting the office. A temporary solution was provided within 30 minutes and I was on my way. This was particularly helpful as I was ready to leave town for a four month stay in Florida.
Many thanks to those who made this happen including the person who worked me in as well as the two who I mentioned previously.

I completely understand it is the patients responsibility to know their insurance coverage, however . . . We received services from Dr. Delarosa for many years before she retired and sold this practice to Dr. Mitchell. We assumed (OUR mistake) our dental insurance coverage continued. It did not. In my own private practice, I made it my personal ethical practice regarding INFORMED CONSENT to make sure patients understood what their benefits would be BEFORE proceeding with treatment.
To the best of our knowledge, we signed NO new informed consent forms regarding authorization of insurance nor were we informed of changes in our status until we received treatment at a much higher OUT OF NETWORK cost. While it is the patients responsibility to know their coverage, I am disappointed this was not clarified when the practice switched hands. Our insurance didn’t change. The practice did. We received no notification the new owner decided not to participate on our insurance panel, nor would they. Be aware. Dr. Mitchell was an effective provider, but of course we will need to seek services elsewhere. Disappointing, but otherwise we would be forced to continue to pay much higher fees, as we have already.
Wish we would have known. Addendum: No, insurance is not confusing. And we are not naive. But one MUST wonder when a provider decides to end their participation on a patient’s insurance provider panel, HOW the patient is supposed to know unless the provider INFORMS existing patients of that change. I guess we will need to call the insurance provider and the doctor ahead of EACH APPOINTMENT to see if they are STILL in-network, if that is what it takes to be informed. When we asked if X-rays were covered by insurance and we were told yes, that would have been a good time to tell us our insurance was no longer covered for in-network reimbursement rates.
