Detailed Introduction

Ball Dentistry is a highly reputable and well-established dental clinic located in Indianapolis, Indiana, with a rich history spanning nearly nine decades. Founded in the mid-1930s by Dr. Cecil Ball, the practice has evolved through generations, with Dr. Gary Ball joining his father in 1978 and his son, Dr. Craig Ball, continuing the family legacy alongside his wife, Dr. Andrea Ball, and other associates like Dr. Bret Weathers, Dr. Lalaine Smith, and Dr. Rachel Thompson. This multi-generational continuity underscores their deep roots in the community and commitment to long-term patient care. Ball Dentistry offers a comprehensive range of dental services, catering to the diverse needs of individuals and families. Their offerings include general dentistry (exams, cleanings, x-rays, pediatric dentistry), cosmetic dentistry (teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, tooth-colored fillings, dental bonding, Invisalign® treatment, smile makeovers), and restorative dentistry (crowns, crown lengthening, root canals, single-visit restorations, inlays and onlays, dentures, dental implants, bridges, and sedation options for anxious patients). They are particularly noted for their use of advanced technology, such as the E4D Dental Technology System, which allows for single-visit crown, inlay, onlay, and veneer restorations, significantly enhancing patient convenience. Beyond traditional dental care, Ball Dentistry also provides a range of non-surgical aesthetic treatments, including BOTOX®, dermal fillers, acne scar treatment, chemical peels, dermaplaning, DiamondGlow™, Dysport®, IPL, Jeuveau®, laser hair removal, laser skin resurfacing, laser tattoo removal, microneedling with PRP, plasma skin resurfacing, and plasma skin tightening. This integration of dental and aesthetic services provides a holistic approach to patient well-being and appearance enhancement. Patient reviews consistently highlight the clinic's professional, friendly, and compassionate staff. Many patients praise the team's ability to create a comfortable and judgment-free environment, particularly for those with dental anxiety. The practice is known for its clear communication regarding treatment plans and costs, as well as its commitment to utilizing the latest in dental equipment and methods. They also offer an in-office membership plan as an alternative to traditional dental insurance, providing affordable access to quality care. I have been a patient here a little over a year. I switched to this office based on a couple personal recommendations and because they have a cosmetic specialty. I have severe TMJ and have dealt with bruxism (clenching and grinding) at night for most of my life. It worsens the older I get. I spent months saving to finally get Botox treatments in my jaw, since it is the only treatment I know about, hoping for some much needed relief.

I am still in the waiting phase to see if this will work, but I can say without a doubt the care I’ve recieved from Andrea and Alandra has been unlike any dental care time I’ve had in a long time. They listen and are so patient and kind. I don’t just feel like a number like I have at most places. I very much look forward to my continued time there. I can’t speak highly enough of them or recommend another place more!

Been going here 20 years. We've never missed appointments but lately have twice due to illness, which is very rare for us. They can't schedule anyone now until at least 7 months out. That means they've grown too much and can't keep up with their long-standing loyal clients. I'm sad to have to leave but I can't withhold services for my children.

Dr. Gary Ball has been providing all of my dental care for over 40 years. He is the patriarch of a dental family. His son, Dr. Craig Ball, has also provided excellent care for many years now. I trust them implicitly to give me sound advice and treatment for a reasonable and fair price.

Over the years their practice has grown but they've maintained a family approach. They don't just focus on my dental needs. They ask me how I'm doing in general and follow my many hobbies and interests. They know my strengths as well as my fears and failures. They approach each challenge with compassion and dignity. I've had almost a hundred cleanings, dozens of xrays, in-house CT scans, a few whitening treatments, and multiple fillings, crowns, and implants over the years.

They maintain the latest imaging equipment and modern treatment methods. If you're looking for an improvement or a second opinion, give these folks a shout. I'm so proud of my dental health and I owe it to brushing with a good toothbrush, flouride toothpaste and treatments, and flossing twice a day. But most of all I owe it to the Ball Dentistry family practice.

This dental practice has become completely untrustworthy. I’ve been a loyal patient at Ball Dentistry under Dr. Gary Ball for 22 years—since I was 16 years old. Recently, after reviewing my Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) more closely, I’ve discovered several concerning issues, including duplicate billing for the same service and amount to both of my insurance providers. Most recently, on April 4th, I was given an estimate of $1,872. 00 for two implant crowns. I was scanned for those crowns on April 15th. Then, on April 29th, I came in for a follow-up to fix a filling we had been working on for two months. At that visit, I was told that my implant crowns had arrived but were not satisfactory. Dr. Gary Ball—who was providing care me instead of Dr. Craig Ball, the current owner—rescanned me. Later, when I received my EOB, I was shocked to see an out-of-pocket cost of $6,849. 60.

I immediately reached out via phone and email. Delta Dental informed me that Dr. Gary Ball had been out-of-network with them since March 31, 2025. I then received a call from Priti, who told me she wanted to "warn me" that this would be my out-of-pocket cost, even while acknowledging my long history as a patient. She claimed a $3,000 treatment plan had been sent to me on April 4th. However, I provided a screen recording showing that the treatment plan I accessed clearly listed the cost as $1,872. Priti said she would speak with both Dr. Gary and Dr. Craig Ball. When she followed up, she told me they would honor the EOB and, “as a courtesy,” reduce my balance by 50%. She also mentioned I had a $655 credit—which I had been asking about for two months—that would be applied, bringing the total down to $2,777. She further explained they could void the visit entirely and allow me to find another provider. I later discovered that Dr. Craig Ball is in-network with Delta Dental—and he was the one who performed my original scan on April 15th.

However, they never submitted this date of service to my insurance. Meanwhile, they knowingly used Dr. Gary Ball—who is out-of-network—for the re-scan. Priti has been incredibly difficult to work with, and it’s appalling that both Dr. Gary and Dr. Craig Ball allowed this to happen during such a critical stage of my implant treatment—especially knowing the complications I’ve experienced. To think I wouldn’t catch this is insulting. If you are currently a patient or considering becoming one, I strongly urge you to scrutinize every bill you receive. While I’ve appreciated the care of individuals like Thomas and, in the past, Gary and Shannon, I can no longer stay silent about the mishandling of my care and billing. I would not recommend this practice to anyone, given what Priti and the Ball dentists have done. Pictures will follow.
