Detailed Introduction

Barnhill Pediatric Dentistry is a well-established pediatric dental clinic located at 129 KY-1223, Corbin, KY 40701. Founded by Dr. Suzie Barnhill in 1997, after she completed specialized training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, the clinic is committed to serving the dental needs of children in the Tri-County community and Appalachia. The practice emphasizes creating a relaxed, happy, and safe dental environment for its young patients, often incorporating a "Barnhill Castle" theme with bright colors and engaging designs to make visits enjoyable. Their team, including Dr. Candace Flora and Dr. Linsey Cornelius, is dedicated to ongoing education in dental technologies and medical trends to provide high-quality care. Barnhill Pediatric Dentistry offers a comprehensive suite of services tailored for children, including preventive care such as regular check-ups, cleanings, and fluoride treatments, as well as restorative dentistry for cavities using tooth-colored fillings. They also provide various sedation options to ensure comfort and reduce anxiety for anxious children or those requiring extensive treatment. These options include nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral conscious sedation, and office-based general anesthesia, which is administered by a fully certified team of a nurse, anesthesiologist, and medic. They recommend a child's first dental visit by 6 months after their first tooth erupts and also advise orthodontist visits for children aged 7 or older. The clinic aims to provide individualized attention, develop unique treatment plans for each child, and educate families on proper dental hygiene.

If I could give no stars, I would. I have been taking my daughter here since she was 3, she’s now 8. She was diagnosed with dental dysplasia. She’s had to have several procedures done and needless to say, she is traumatized and has a very difficult time during treatments. Every time she goes for a cleaning, we run into an issue and have to schedule another appointment to have work done. To do the dental work, she is sedated. My child is so worked up over these treatments that she’s already crying before we even make it to the office. I have explained to the staff that the medicine they give her just doesn’t work for her. She’s always irritable, usually vomiting, and not even drowsy. I have also asked if there’s anything they can call in for her before we come, just to calm her down. I was told no.

I have never been asked if I wanted to come into a room with her during the procedures. I’m always told to wait in my car. Whatever happens in that room has absolutely traumatized my child. The last procedure she had told me that they strap her down, I’m sure it’s for safety, but she doesn’t like it. It makes her very uncomfortable and scared. I feel as though the staff doesn’t listen to the parents nor the patients! She also told me that the staff was very hateful and mean to her. Telling her to be quiet, there’s no reason to cause a scene, and YES I’m finally taking you to your mom. This past procedure, was absolutely terrible. They wheeled her out of the room while she was already screaming and crying. They called me during and said she wasn’t doing well with cooperating and asked if I wanted them to continue with the treatment, which was a tooth extraction, and informed me that if they did, she would probably remember everything. I asked if she would feel it and then I decided no, and told her just to bring her to me.

Then whoever called me went back into the room and came back to the phone and said oh she’s fine now. I knew that was probably wrong but I said okay. My child has a scratch on her nose, a mark on her leg, and her gums are scratched up. There has to be a better way than strapping them down or holding them down and yelling at them. They have no patience or sympathy for the kids that are nervous or may need the extra encouragement or just simply love. I know you are in a hurry because you schedule appointments back to back to back to back and have a waiting room of 100 kids but TAKE THE TIME TO LISTEN TO THESE KIDS, build trust with them, especially if you want them to keep coming back. I also was not happy that the dentist did not come in and speak with me after the procedure like she normally does. She told the dental assistant to tell me everything was fine and we could go. We won’t be coming back and my kiddos are now on the search for a new dentist.

Took my 2 year old Georgia, here for her first dental appointment ever. This office is AMAZING! My kiddo does not like ANYONE looking in her mouth. Dr.

Lindsey and Sarah G. Talked to her gave her praises and my daughter opened up and let them look with a mirror and even let them Put vitamins on her teeth. I can’t say enough of how good they are and I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone needing a pediatric dentist!

Could have made me more comfortable with Letting my kids go back without me. They did not make me feel comfortable. Very Unprofessional male staff. Didn't take my kids after I told him it was okay i just felt uncomfortable letting them go back alone is all i said. The male stuff member just said you can go somewhere else we don't want to do the kids teeth. What really goes on here?. . .

that they are so hard up on not letting the parents go back. I would not recommend anyone to go to this office. The woman helping would have been better help she was so sweet with the kids and very kind wish I got her name she needs a pay raise she was so very kind with the boys. That male that came in right before surgery needs a new job. He did not care. Showed me the way out instead Of compromising with me. Wish I could give a no star.
