DO NOT TRUST THEIR COST ESTIMATES. They will give you a cost estimate, but it appears they just make up the numbers and then blame insurance. In July 2024, I was told I needed three fillings. The office told me how much was left of my dental benefit and that two cavities would be just about covered by insurance, but that the third cavity would be about $160. I opted to only get two cavities filled, so imagine my shock when I got a bill for $143. The office said they do not know what insurance will pay, which is confusing since they were in network with my insurance and have a fee schedule so that they can, in fact, estimate costs. I understand the fee schedule may be a range, but if a filling without insurance is $160, it makes no sense that $143 is "just about covered by insurance. " That is almost entirely NOT covered by insurance. If it is true that they do not know what insurance will pay and thus their wildly inaccurate estimates are not their fault, why do they bother giving estimates at all? I then spoke to Dr.
Benderson, the owner, who told me that insurance probably told them I had more of my benefit left than I did. But I pointed out that insurance paid the exact amount that his office said I had left. They told me the amount via text, so he was able to confirm that the amount they told me was the exact amount insurance paid. Dr. Benderson then said maybe I had had more work done than expected, but I said no one had said anything like that at my appointment. He looked at my x-rays from 10 days before my appointment and concurred that what was indicated in the x-rays matched what they billed for. He finally decided that insurance must have just changed their fee schedule and that is why his office's estimate was off. He told me he would waive the bill and would probably just reimburse insurance for one of the cavities. Well, today, I tried to schedule an appointment and I was told I cannot schedule until I pay my outstanding bill.
Apparently, Dr. Benderson wrote in the notes that we talked at length, but he failed to mention anything about how he was waiving the bill since I had done my due diligence to make sure I would not receive a surprise bill for hundreds of dollars. If the owner of the practice cannot handle something as simple as billing, why would you trust the practice with your teeth? If you do choose to go there, I guess be prepared to pay several hundreds of dollars since they apparently cannot give anywhere close to accurate estimates for routine procedures. Edit to respond to their response: They have clearly taken offense by me writing that it appears they make up numbers. I say this because, since this issue arose, the front desk has told me multiple that they cannot predict what insurance will pay, even though giving an estimate is predicting what insurance will pay. If they cannot predict what insurance will pay, where are they getting their numbers from? I assume they can actually predict the reimbursement rates from in network insurance providers reasonably well, but that is not what the people at the front desk have been telling me. And if they take pride in their honesty, why was the bill not waived like Dr. Benderson told me it would be? That is not ethical.

Bay Cove Dentistry provides quality dental care in a professional and friendly atmosphere. The practice is easily accessible and responsive to patient needs, and staff are quite competent in their respective roles.

Baycove Dentistry, I am not one to write reviews, in this case I make an exception. The staff from the front desk, to the hygienists, and the dentists all are amazingly thoughtful and caring. We are very lucky to have such a competent team to help our family. I have recommended Dr Benderson many times to my friends and coworkers and all have started using Baycove. Sincerely

These folks were awesome! I was not a regular patient of theirs, but I certainly am now! Call them with a broken tooth on the front bottom and they took me in the next morning. Everyone was kind and courteous and quick and painless. Very helpful attending to my special needs. Thanks so much to Doctor DeVera! God bless!
