Writing this on behalf of my husband who had good service when he went in but had to pay out of pocket so he looked into getting insurance, asked them to be very specific about what insurance he would need to get to continue going there with insurance coverage. They told him Blue Cross/Blue Shield. They neglected to mention that they DON'T accept PPO, only HMO.

So he made an appointment to get his cavities filled only to go there and find out that he would be charged over $500 if he wanted it done because oh whoops, they don't actually take the insurance that he expressly asked them to recommend. So yeah, it seems like the actual dentistry is likely good if you can get to it, but there seems to be quite a lot of ignorant gatekeeping ahead of it.

I chose this dental practice based on good reviews and its convenient location, but it turned out to be a massive mistake. From the very first visit, I should have known better. During a routine cleaning, neither the hygienist nor the dentist bothered to do basic periodontal charting (probing the gums to check for early signs of gum disease) or a head/neck exam to check for signs of cancer. Every other dentist I’ve seen has done both as standard practice. Why didn’t they? The dentist claimed I had a small cavity behind an existing filling, so I promptly scheduled an appointment to have it filled. I'm diligent about my dental health, but the appointment was a disaster. The dentist was late and looked completely frazzled. She bounced between me and two other patients, knocking me in the mouth and face with instruments as she rushed around. It was honestly a joke.

To make matters worse, when she went to remove the old filling on tooth #4 (the tooth with the cavity) she accidentally destroyed the filling on tooth #5 and then had the audacity to claim “it happens” when I questioned the person at the desk about why I was being charged for two fillings. I came in for one filling. ONE. Yet, she proceeded to charge both me and my insurance for TWO fillings—one that I actually needed and the one she caused to be destroyed because of her carelessness. Any competent, ethical dentist would have eaten the cost for the second filling since it was their mistake, but not here. Apparently, customer care and accountability are foreign concepts to this practice. I immediately called a dental hygienist friend, and she confirmed that this is a red flag for a terrible practice. I’m beyond furious with how I was treated, and I wouldn’t trust this practice with a single tooth. Steer clear unless you want to risk getting charged for work you never needed and enjoy dealing with a careless, reckless dentist.

Edit: Why would I want to pay a co-pay for a filling I didn’t need when I walked in? I came in prepared to pay the co-pay for one filling—the one for the tooth #4 with the cavity, the tooth she told me needed a filling. I didn’t plan to pay for two. I only needed two fillings that day because of the dentist. And furthermore, what am I supposed to do? Walk out with a cracked/broken filling on tooth #5, but a new one on tooth #4? So of course I said to fill the second tooth even though that was not the original plan. I don’t know about you, but I go to the dentist to maintain good dental health and address existing issues, not to create new ones. If I take my car to the shop to replace a headlight bulb, but they accidentally damage the entirety of the headlight in the process, they wouldn’t charge me to fix the entire headlight when all I wanted was the bulb replaced. They would eat the cost because that’s just business sometimes. I’ve already found a new dentist and retrieved my records and charts from this practice because there is no way I would ever return.

Although I see a lot of reviews here that are positive and reflect the true nature, heart and the services provided to the customer's at Belvedere Square dental. I have also seen some that aren't so good and I understand that sometimes we have bad experiences based upon our expectations for care and services which is within our natural rights. But personally I must say that slamming a business that provides a service to so many in a community that has the lack thereof is why communities end up not having anything that does actually provide decent services. No matter who you are, or what insurance Belvedere Square are friendly and kind to everyone. I have been to a few dentists in my life and taken my son to an orthodontist and this business has been one of the best by far far as making sure your teeth are healthy and your appointments are kept up.

They are patient and kind but they also stand on their business as all businesses should, that is what keeps a business n business. I really like Dr shapiro and her staff they are a cool bunch. Thanks Belvedere Square for all you do, and you are appreciated. AND my teeth still get compliments a year later. OH and yes I am an African American and I am always treated and greeted with professionalism, and respect.

They also have a great sense of humor while treating their clients as human beings. I love being a client at Belvedere Square dental I know my needs will be met with great care at each and every appointment.

An amazing and warm feeling just walking into the office. I experienced a very traumatic appt at my other dentist resulting in an emergency root canal and refused to go back.

I researched and found Dr Shapiro practice during my recovery and they were able to fit me in quickly for a cleaning and a permanent crown! I immediately bonded with Audrey and felt like I was in the room with a close girlfriend! I haven’t been with a dental practice like this since my youth where my family belonged for 10+years… and I’m 38! You aren’t just a “paying patient”. They’re wonderful! My teeth haven’t felt this clean in a long time! I highly recommend!
