Detailed Introduction

Berks Community Health Center (BCHC) is a vital healthcare provider in Berks County, Pennsylvania, operating as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) since June 2012. Its core mission is to enhance access to healthcare and improve the overall health of the community by delivering coordinated, comprehensive, and patient- and family-centered services to all residents, irrespective of their economic status or ability to pay. BCHC offers a wide array of primary and preventive healthcare services for individuals across all age groups, from newborns to seniors. These services include, but are not limited to, adult health (preventive care, chronic disease management, physicals), Women's Health (annual exams, cancer screenings, family planning, prenatal care, menopause counseling, Telehealth), and pediatric services (well-child checks, vaccinations, sick visits, school/camp/sports physicals). They also provide specialty care such as dental, optometry, chiropractic care, and podiatry on-site, along with integrated behavioral health and MAT services. A key aspect of BCHC's commitment is its dedication to affordability and accessibility. They accept all forms of insurance, including CHIP and Medicaid, and offer a sliding fee discount program for uninsured or underinsured individuals with incomes at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. This ensures that high-quality healthcare is within reach for the entire community. BCHC actively works to eliminate health disparities, serving a diverse patient population, with over 85% identifying as Hispanic/Latino and nearly 25% as Black/African American. Their community-focused approach extends beyond clinical services, engaging in initiatives like expanding chronic disease management programs through grants, hosting community events, and collaborating with local organizations like Safe Berks to address broader health-related needs, such as domestic violence support. They are recognized as a Health Center Quality Leader, reflecting their commitment to high standards of care.

I love the doctors here but the nurse at the front desk is extremely rude. My PCP knows that my husband and I usually come in together because of his disability and yet they refused to let me go in with him because I hadn't been registered when they could have easily registered us both at the same time especially since my appointment was right after his.

I showed up to my appointment today just for them to say my appointment was for a different time other then what was on my card. Instead of them trying to fixed the mistake they made, they want me to go all the way to to look for an appointment card that I no loner have. It took me forever to get this appointment because no one ever answers the phone or call back.

The manager I spoke with today is extremely rude and is always rude when it come to her Staff mistakes.

Absolutely horrible place! So unorganized. Can never get an appointment unless you have a nurse or dr call to schedule and today I received a call back on a message that was left 2.5 - 3 weeks ago about my parents medication!! So much for the “better care”. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere

Terrible lab service. It's not possible to spend an hour with each patient to take samples. I arrived with my son at 9 a.m., and by 1 p.m., they still hadn't done any tests, with only 5 people in front of him. Very bad
