DR. Jim and the staff at his office make you feel like family. You are not just a patient or a number!!. I had recently switched to a dental office in Kalamazoo due to switching jobs. That was a huge mistake on my part.
The people at this other office made me feel like I was inconveniencing them to be there. The girl that was cleaning my teeth spent more time on her phone than she did paying attention to me. On top of that when she finished my teeth would hurt for weeks afterwards. . .
It didn't take me long to realize that it is worth the hour drive back up to Hastings. The girls behind the counter make you feel welcome and most of the time they know more about my dental situation than I do!!!(Especially Alicia!!) I would also like to point out that Angie is an artist when it comes to cleaning teeth. She is very meticulous and very easy to get along with it. Most important of all when she finishes my teeth feel refreshed and there is virtually NO PAIN!! I would recommend this office to anyone including my friends and family!!

I started going to Dr. Jim about 1 1/2 years ago and I was really anxious about going to a dentist again, I had a very bad experience with my previous dentist. I choose to try Dr. Jim because of how amazing, kind, and patient his receptionist/wife Peggy was when I called. She set me at ease and reassured me that they would make me comfortable. Every single person in there office is so nice.
Dr. Jim always answers my questions, gives me all of the options and makes sure I'm comfortable. I cannot thank his office enough! They have removed all of my anxiety. My smile and I are forever grateful.

I am a 100% disabled Army veteran with service connected issues from deployments to a war zone. I wanted a second opinion from an odd report I had gotten from my daughter's previous dentist. They were pushing to have 4 of her teeth pulled. So I contacted Broadway Dental. I was able to get an appointment within 5 days after calling. The appointment seemed to go well and I was given good news and no teeth had to be pulled. But a root canal was needed. My daughter was in alot of pain due to an infected tooth that was deteriorating from not making the required enamel. After the antibiotics were gone, it was a matter of a few days before the ibuprofen no longer worked. So this root canal was needed and couldn't come soon enough. Three weeks was how far out it was scheduled. Nothing like watching your child go through pain and knowing there's nothing I can do to help. June 27th was the appointment day. Somehow I had stored the times wrong and had 130pm down instead. But luckily, so I had thought, an office lady called to inquire about us not being there. This was at 1:04 pm. We happen to live 1/2 mile up the road and said we'd be there in no more than 2 minutes.
At 1:06pm I received another call from the office lady and the first thing she said was that our appointment needs to be rescheduled because of being late. I explained I'm in the parking lot, getting out of my vehicle. 1:09pm is precisely the time I was in their office. Instead of having the procedures starting, I was met with a brickwall. Somehow the procedure after my daughter's just so happened to be there who knows how early, but somehow they were also prepared for it. I began to advocate for myself. "We're only a few minutes late, isn't there a grace period just in case life happens? My Daughter is in pain. You guys should know this, you've seen her tooth. " Again, nothing but stuff about rescheduling and talks of giving me a referral to another place. As if somehow starting over at a different place would solve the current situation. I really didn't want to have to wait another few weeks for an appointment to get mu daughter the help she so desperately needed. Mind the fact we are there, only 9 minutes late, the office lady didn't say a word about rescheduling the first conversation, and let's not forget there's a 12 year old that's had to live with mouth pain for over a month now. Still I got nowhere. Worst thing on earth is watching your child in serious pain and know the help she needs is right in front of you but chose to not help instead. Now that's compassion if I've ever seen. I did my best to get them to change their mind. My consolation prize is a referral to a place that's scheduling further out than 3 weeks they wanted to reschedule me, a child still in pain, and now knowing your child doesn't mean anything to those standing before you.
Is there not a grace period? Your appointment won't be considered tardy and needing to be rescheduled until you get passed the 15 minute grace period. I'm guessing 9 is the magic number that day. To make things a bit more crappy, the office lady seen my vape mod. Then blurts out "is that Marijuana?" Umm no, I don't smoke Marijuana. It's not like I was using the thing inside there. After looking at the Facebook page for Broadway Dental and trying to find out exactly when you'd be considered tardy in there non user friendly website, I noticed a few things. First, there is absolutely nothing that specifically says when you'd be considered tardy. I guess that's left up to interpretation by whoever is working. Second, the mission statement says things along the lines of "listening and learning from the patients, earn their trust, and exceed any expectations the patient has. Well let me tell ya that I was not being listened too. Empathy and compassion didn't exist in there that day. I also seen alot of posts about "never forget, memorial day, veterans day, etc. Being a 100% disabled veteran, their actions didn't line up. It was just too easy to say no and send a 12 year old child in pain, out the door. .

My wife Tammy got a toothache on Saturday and it progressed rapidly over the weekend, by Monday my wife was in extreme pain, her cheek was puffy and the infection was now causing pain in her jaw and ear. We called the dental clinic on Monday the lady at the desk told us there were no appointments until Feb 5th which would mean my wife would have to wait 10 days to be seen for her tooth which was infected. My wife was crying and asked if she could be seen sooner, she said she would put her on the cancelation list. By Tuesday morning my wife was in severe pain and she called to see if there were any cancelations. Seems the lady yesterday didn't put her on the cancelation list This lady we spoke to on Tuesday put her on the list and told us there was an appointment available for Thursday, we told her we were grateful and said we'll take it. By Tuesday night Tammy could barely walk, The pain was so bad, she was suffering from not only the infected tooth but from pain in the ear along with a severe migraine. I helped her into the car and took her to the emergency room. I live 2 minutes from pennock hospital, they got her in and examined her. It took the doctor less than a minute, he prescribed her antibiotics and pain medicines.
Wednesday morning the pain was even worse, my wife called and they told us the same thing, no cancelations and the doctor could not see her, ive never seen my wife in such pain, she cried to the lady at the desk but the lady didn't seem to care or listen. Apparently her boss got on the phone and Tammy asked why she couldn't be seen and stated she had to go to the emergency room last night just to get antibiotics and pain meds and didn't understand why her dentist couldn't take 1 minute to look at her on Monday, because that's all it took the er doctor, Tammy was crying and in pain and told her the pain is gone into her ear and she now has a horrible migraine. Tammy told her this isn't for a cleaning or something simple, i have an infection. this lady then said, "we tell all our patients that we can't see to go to the er" Tammy told her what the er doctor said and that was "We don't generally treat teeth issues" the lady said I'm sorry but that's what we do but she didn't seem to even care. She ended the conversation by telling us she would bring this to the doctor. Thursday morning at 700 am they called and told Tammy they canceled her appointment, Tammy began to cry and said no, you can't cancel my appointment I'm in so much pain and you've done nothing to help me. The lady then said Dr. Stephanie Setaputri looked at her old images and believes Tammy had a crack in the infected tooth and they were sending her to an oral surgeon to check it at 1pm, that doctor said it should be removed and his office made a call and got my wife in the next day to have it removed. At Broadway dental it's apparent the people at the desk can't discern a routine appointment from an emergency appointment, and its apparent that Dr Setaputri doesn't have time for all her patients or possibly doesn't know these things are going in in her own practice.
The tooth was removed on Friday nearly a week later at a different office. My wife had to suffer for a whole week because Broadway dental didn't have 5 minutes or less to look at it, and or help her with the infection and the pain she was suffering from. To top it off, a week after my wife's tooth was pulled we received a letter in the mail signed by Dr Stephanie Setaputri terminating my wife as a patient. They said it was in both of our best interest. The letter said for us to find another dentist, any future appointments she had were canceled and she would no longer be treated there anymore. This was a shock, my wife did nothing but call to see if there were any cancelations and did nothing but poor her heart out to them because of the pain she was experiencing. Apparently Dr Setaputri and the people at the desk don't truly care about your situation. There's no excuse that this doctor refused to see my wife, putting my wife's health at further risk.
