Detailed Introduction

Centers For Pediatric Dental Sedation is a dedicated dental clinic located at 1571 Phoenix Blvd #8, College Park, GA 30349. They specialize in pediatric dental care with a strong emphasis on sedation dentistry, catering to infants, children, and adolescents, including those with special healthcare needs or significant dental anxiety. The clinic aims to provide a gentle, positive, and safe environment for all patients. Their core service revolves around the provision of dental treatment under various forms of sedation, including Intravenous (IV) Sedation and general anesthesia. This allows them to effectively treat children who may have severe behavioral concerns, require extensive full-mouth dental rehabilitation, or are too young to cooperate with traditional dental procedures. For IV sedation, calming medicine is administered through a vein, with vital signs like heart rate, oxygen levels, and blood pressure being continuously monitored by board-certified anesthesiologists. This approach ensures safety and comfort, often allowing for extensive treatment to be completed in a single visit, minimizing the need for multiple, potentially stressful appointments. Centers For Pediatric Dental Sedation prides itself on high standards of excellence in patient care and safety. They work in partnership with anesthesia providers, such as Anesthesia Consultants of Georgia, who specialize in delivering ambulatory anesthesia services outside of a hospital setting. This collaboration brings highly trained anesthesiologists to the dental office, providing convenient, safe, efficient, and cost-effective anesthesia care. Patient testimonials frequently highlight the compassionate and kind nature of the staff, from the reception area to the dental team and anesthesiologists. Parents often express gratitude for the clinic's ability to provide stress-free experiences for their children, with many noting that their children felt comfortable and even enjoyed their visits, despite undergoing procedures that might otherwise be frightening. The clinic's commitment to creating a child-friendly atmosphere and ensuring patient comfort is a recurring theme in positive feedback. In addition to their specialized sedation services, as a pediatric dental clinic, they likely offer a comprehensive range of general pediatric dental services, which typically include routine oral evaluations, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, restorative treatments (like fillings and crowns), and emergency dental care, all tailored to the unique needs of growing children. They accept Georgia Medicaid and various CMOs.

Everyone did amazing; front desk, anesthesiologist, dentist, etc. , even the lady who did the exit vitals. All made us feel welcome & comfortable. Everything was explained thoroughly & all questions were answered. Great job.

This review is in no way reflective of Centers For Pediatric Dental Sedation's actual dental work, but, in fact, a review on their ethical practices and lack of treatment explanation. They travel once a week to the Calhoun office, and that is where we came in for treatment. We had a referral from our dentist to have fillings completed because our son did not want to cooperate at his office. We came into the initial consultation thinking he would have fillings applied to the surface of his teeth. The dentist took about 5 minutes to review the x-rays and assure us with a big grin that everything would be ok and that he would in no time have my kid with a beautiful smile. At no point did he ever explain what a crown was or why exactly did my son need a crown. Our dentist referred us for fillings nothing else. On the day of, the staff was in an extreme rush to get set up, considering they shuttle into Calhoun and once again failed MISERABLY at explaining what was about to happen. They all hurried, had us sign paperwork and rushed my son to the back.

My first shock was that he was given a shot right on his arm, instead of being placed on gas as I've seen many times during my surgeries. The second shock came in 5 minutes later when a young girl came in and told us not to freak out if he became stiff and rigid, it was at that point that I subconsciously began to realize these idiots had not spent one second to explain what was about to happen. Still, my dumb and ignorant self allowed everything to continue without asking a single question as to why they hadn't been more thorough with their explanations, yet the worst unexplained fact left out from everything was a detailed explanation of what a crown was. I've called my dentist and asked if he indeed thought my son's teeth were so bad that he needed crowns and said no, we referred you for treatment. We would have done fillings here if he had cooperated. But strap in the worst part was at the end. First the shock of finding out the worst possible way what a crown was, seeing my child's' entire upper gum bruised and purple. Then the same girl comes in to explain that he might wake up screaming or fighting. I've had a hundred questions for a week, and I have not been able to even sleep over the frustration and helplessness.

This practice in my view either took advantage of the fact that treatment would be covered by insurance to upgrade unnecessary treatment on my child and failed MISERABLY at explaining thoroughly up front what exactly would happen. They know exactly what they are doing because at the end when my son began to scream in pain, they rushed us out the back door so none of the other oblivious parents would see. I wish I could at least get an apology from them, at the very least but I also wish every parent would find my review and understand how much they care for a thorough explanation. Ask ask ask questions, and if you don't agree with their treatment, please go somewhere else for another consult. There might be kids with teeth so rotten they do require crowns and this practice might be a miracle to them to us it was the worst that has ever happened in my life, and I've had kidney stones. Watching my son scream for hours was far more painful.

Our little guy needed sedation to have some dental work done. He was in such good hands. Everyone was wonderful and even though we hated he had to be sedated we had a great experience and it was a relief to know that he didn't experience any pain during the procedure!
