This was my first time visiting Clear Lakes Dental. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much because I had to give up my old dentist due to insurance changes and was regretting that. But I would definitely give this place a 5 star all the way around.

They were efficient, had high-tech equipment which reduced the discomfort to the patient, were personable, explained everything they were doing, made clear recommendations, and were very thorough. Special thanks to Jamie - a great hygienist.

Everything started off great, the staff was great and welcoming when I went there on 1/30/25 for a couple loose teeth on my bottom front row. I was hoping that they could pull them out and start a regular patient visit. After looking at my teeth they suggested I pull out all but 4 teeth in my mouth. I figured the next step would be to set up an appointment for the extractions, but no they set me up for a cleaning on 2/19/25.

My teeth were still loose after waiting a few weeks for my cleaning, when I questioned why my teeth were being cleaned before removal, they stated "it's covered under your insurance". (Which I thought was a shady way of doing business. Charging insurance for something not needed) After my cleaning I set up an appointment for the extraction of 13 teeth for 3/31/25, when I received the quote from my insurance company Clear Lake was asking for $700 per tooth ($9100), note my teeth are all loose and during the cleaning the staff was worried she would accidently pull some (fall out). I went into the office to discuss this with the staff, they said it was $700 per tooth because they would need to be surgically removed.

(They suggested removal of all my teeth because they were loose, and my gums had receding making it a simple extraction. ) The staff then stated if they come out easy it's only $400 per tooth. I quickly canceled my appointment and asked for the Dentist in charge to give me a call, it has been over a week know so it obviously isn't going to get resolved.

Felt a little rushed while I was there, like I maybe could have gotten more attentive care. But I'm grateful for a place that takes my insurance and I haven't had any major dental problems yet.

Went in for tooth pain and discovered I had an infection in a molar. Was told I could have a root canal done or an extraction. Wanted a root canal but was told to schedule elsewhere. Root canal was unable to be done and needed extraction. Contacted again for extraction but was told would not do it. Cited "medical condition," with no further explanation.

The extraction would NOT pose a significant risk to health, as the medical condition is mild to moderate. Dentist did not thoroughly document the reasons for the refusal and provide a clear explanation to me. I do not believe the dentist's refusal is based on valid medical grounds, because the dentist never inquired further on the medical condition, and posed more of a risk by not taking care of this infection which could cause further harm. Perhaps looking into legal action. Further, whomever answers the phone at Clear Lakes Dental in Rochester has very minimal telephone etiquette and comes off rude and dismissive. I've had a great experience with Clear Lakes Dental in East Saint Paul.

. . Rochester not so much.
