Detailed Introduction

Comfort Dental is a prominent dental franchise organization established in 1977 by Dr. Rick A. Kushner, D.D.S. Headquartered in Lakewood, Colorado, it has grown to encompass over 150 independently owned and operated dental offices across 10 states in the United States. The core philosophy of Comfort Dental revolves around making quality dental care accessible and affordable to a wide range of patients. The Xenia, Ohio, location at 44 Xenia Towne Square is part of this extensive network. Comfort Dental offices typically offer a comprehensive suite of general dentistry services. These commonly include routine exams and cleanings, dental fillings (including tooth-colored options), crowns and bridges, root canal treatments, and tooth extractions. Many locations also provide specialized services such as cosmetic dentistry (e.g., teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, enamel shaping), orthodontics (including braces and Invisalign), dental implants, oral surgery, and periodontal (gum disease) therapy. They often cater to families, offering pediatric dentistry as well. A distinguishing feature of Comfort Dental is its commitment to patient convenience and affordability. They often boast extended hours, including evenings and Saturdays, to accommodate diverse schedules. For patients without insurance, they offer cost-saving membership programs like the "Gold Plan," which provides discounts on various services. The franchise model emphasizes "lean and mean" practice management, aiming to maximize efficiency and keep overhead low, which in turn helps keep fees generally affordable and often below average. Comfort Dental is also known for its community involvement, including initiatives like "Care Day," where participating dentists and staff provide free dental care on Christmas Day. The organization prides itself on a patient-centric approach, where doctors often personally explain diagnoses and financial arrangements to foster trust and clarity. While it operates as a large franchise, each office is independently owned by dentists, aiming to maintain a focus on individualized patient care rather than a purely corporate structure.

I am so pleased with the care, compassion, understanding and professionalism I receive at Comfort Dental. It had been a few yrs. Since my last visit but the staff made me feel very welcomed and made sure I was comfortable the entire visit. Very detailed in explaining what steps would be taken next and what expect! Made sure I understood and was ok with what was to come.

Honest and straightforward! I highly recommend Comfort Dental and would give them 10* if possible. Thank you so much to the staff at Comfort Dental in Xenia, oh.

I love these people. I have an anxiety disorder and all dental work is a traumatic experience. Dr Erin and the support staff made my dental work as comfortable as it can be given what’s being done. When they see I’m uncomfortable while numbing me, they even blow cool air on my forehead. They allow me to take breaks in during the procedure if need be.

Now at this office they do take walk ins and you may wait a while in the lobby. Also, scheduling work to be done will take a while. But these inconveniences are worth the service I receive.

Eben was AMAZING! My hygienist was so nice and we had good conversation. I left feeling confident and truly welcomed. I was not put down because of the health of my teeth. I was reassured and felt they addressed all my needs. I am so thankful to have found a dentist I can trust!!!

I would give ZERO stars if that was an option. AFTER Dr. Joyce numbed me I was give a paper to read and sign stating “I understand tooth extractions can be performed by a specialist but I prefer comfort dental to perform the extraction today” …. UM, No I really would prefer someone who specializes in extractions but I didn’t just get six shots and make my face numb for nothing so I gave DR. JOYCE a chance. I should have seen that paper before anything was done to me!!! Anyways, She dug and dug, dug around, crunching and crunching my molar into pieces inside my gums. Then she says “I have to go clean 2 patients teeth and I’ll be back. ” I’m thinking “isn’t that the hygienists job?! “ but ok! Well, She was gone for 50 MINUTES then returns to dig some more.

Ouch! Of course the numbing had worn off some and it hurt bad. I didn’t want anymore shots because she was so long and didn’t get the job done when she should have while the numbing was effective. I already couldn’t swallow, my gums are tender and there is blood everywhere. I said I want a referral to a SPECIALIST!! She got up and walked over to a new patients chair with no words for me, no prescriptions, NO NOTHING. The assistant gave me a bag with a couple gauze. DR. JOYCE knew it would hurt bad and be infected in no time. She didn’t care and sent me out the door.

My gums and the remaining root were soooooo infected, swollen, nerve exposed, just painful. Regardless, a patient shouldn’t have to encounter that because I offended her by asking for a referral. I should have been put on proper antibiotics to prevent infection from the trauma she created in my mouth. My tooth was broke but didn’t hurt before sitting in her chair. She’s not a caring or empathetic Dr!! Her assistant was however.
