I had scheduled an appointment to get my teeth cleaned, clearly expressing to Sandra that I wanted to avoid any procedures not covered by my insurance. The dental assistant who was assigned to perform my cleaning began asking probing questions regarding my decision to leave my previous dental provider. I explained that due to a recent change in my Medicare insurance, it necessitated my transition to a new dental practice. When I arrived for the appointment, I anticipated a straightforward cleaning.

To my surprise, I was given a diagnosis indicating the need for a deep cleaning of my gums—something I have never encountered before, especially since I've never experienced issues like bleeding gums or any other gum-related problems. I questioned why they couldn't simply proceed with the standard cleaning, as that was my primary intention for the visit. The fact that they suggested a deeper treatment left me puzzled and concerned. Additionally, I couldn't shake the feeling that the dental practice might be incentivized to recommend additional procedures in order to maximize their billing, particularly considering the nature of insurance reimbursements.

This suspicion was only heightened by the fact that my previous dentist had never identified any such concerns. Ultimately, in a conversation with my insurance company, they advised me to obtain my dental records and consider seeking a second opinion from another provider. It’s disheartening to feel pressured into unnecessary procedures, especially when my previous dental experiences had always been problem-free.

Everyone was great. Irene did a fantastic photo shoot and cleaning. Dr. was very nice and showed pictures and explained everything in detail. The front staff were very nice and helpful. Great visit overall!

Dr. Schmidt and the staff are absolutely wonderful. I have never felt so relaxed at a dentist office. I would absolutely recommend Cosmopolitan Dentistry 150%! I also wanted to state that my procedure originally involved a new crown but since the root was cracked and had already had root canal performed in that tooth years ago I had to extract it. I felt no pressure whatsoever about an implant or bridge right away. What people have to understand is that a dentist is only trying to provide the best option and route of care for your teeth.

It doesn’t mean they’re trying to take advantage of your situation. They let me know all costs in advance and what the plan of restoration was on my teeth and I appreciated that. I was extremely surprised that they offered a payment plan as many dentists don’t. Thank you again Dr. Schmidt and staff!
