Dr. Ian Mapes did excellent to my filling. It was amazing. You can’t tell that there’s a chip on my tooth. Now I’m confident to smile again.

Wanted to express my true appreciation for Dr. Ian Mapes of Court Square Dentistry. I've been getting dental care from Dr. Mapes for many years. This morning I had an important, tooth-saving surgery at his office.
He did an excellent job, and I'm very grateful. Dr. Mapes has also been insightful and responsive when we've reached out to him with dental questions for our 1-year-old daughter. The guidance and medical information he shared with us has been a big factor in her having healthy teeth as well.

Dr. Mapes is quite simply the best dentist I’ve ever had. His office is always very clean and pleasant; his hygienists give good cleanings; and his remedial work is faster, less painful, and of higher quality than other dentists I’ve been to.
I have a lot of issues caused by grinding my teeth and he’s helped me protect my teeth from further damage after years of being given the wrong advice. I trust him 100%

Like many other reviews have said, this place is very sketchy & deceptive about charges. Unless you enjoy being misled or overpaying, this place is not for you. This place advertises that they accept 200+ insurances as "in network" on Zocdoc. What they mean is that "they may work with" these insurances, meaning the insurances may cover a small portion of the procedure. It will not come close to what you'd expect your insurance to cover for genuine in network providers. I have Delta Dental PPO, and I came in to have a chip in one of my old cavities filled with no numbing agents used. I was billed nearly $700 by this office to have this 5 minute procedure done. Deception aside, this price is far higher than what other offices in the neighborhood appear to charge. I was billed $510 for the filling itself (procedure code D2392). My insurance covers 80% of this procedure for true in network providers, but only covered $120 (23%) for this provider.
I was billed another $240 for the Oral Evaluation (D01400) and X-Ray (D0220). My insurance covers these 100% for true in network providers, but only covered $106 (44%) for this provider. I agree that the patient should bear some of the burden to clarify, however, this office goes out of their way to make you feel like you are in network. As the patient, you go in assuming your insurance is in network because the provider said it was via Zocdoc. After checking your insurance, the front desk doesn't say anything to flag that you may not be in network. In the middle of my exam, a billing lady comes in & shoves a form in your face, pushing you to agree to the charges for the procedure & assures you that insurance will mail you a check for reimbursement. I straight up asked if the full amount will be reimbursed & they told me they can't give an answer, but that "most of it should be" since my insurance is in network. It's clear that transparency is not important in this practice. On top of the lack of clarity about whether insurances are in network or not here, they also are extremely unclear about what you will actually be billed. I paid $510 the day my filling was done.
I asked if this was all I'd be charged, and was told yes. I told the front office repeatedly I'd be moving soon, so please call me to let me know when the insurance claim was accepted/about to be mailed so that I could give them the correct address to send this to. The front desk never followed up & now it's totally just my burden to locate the (small) reimbursement check. What they did reach out to me though was an additional request for payment. Another $175 that was not communicated to me at all during the initial appointment. Just read any of the recent reviews - it's clear that this is a *business* and a shady one that is okay with bending morals to get your money. This is not a provider that genuinely cares about your health or patient experience. They are happy as long as they end up getting to (over)charge you.
