Detailed Introduction

Dakota Pediatric Dentistry - Grand Forks is a specialized dental clinic dedicated to providing comprehensive oral healthcare for infants, children, and adolescents in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and the surrounding areas. The clinic emphasizes creating a friendly, comfortable, and stress-free environment to ensure positive dental experiences, which are crucial for establishing lifelong healthy oral habits. Their team comprises board-certified pediatric dentists, including Dr. Chad Hoge, Dr. Mikala Hoge, and Dr. Tyler Johnson, who have undergone two additional years of specialized training beyond general dental school to cater specifically to the unique needs of young patients, including those with special needs. Dakota Pediatric Dentistry offers a wide array of services designed for children's developing teeth and oral health. These include routine preventive care such as examinations, professional cleanings, digital X-rays, and fluoride treatments. They also provide dental sealants to protect against cavities, and comprehensive restorative services like white and silver fillings, dental crowns (stainless steel and cosmetic zirconia), and pulp therapy for infected teeth. Understanding that some children may experience dental anxiety, the clinic offers various sedation options to ensure comfort during procedures. These include nitrous oxide ("laughing gas") for mild anxiety, IV sedation for more complex or lengthy treatments, and in-hospital general anesthesia administered by a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) or anesthesiologist for situations requiring the child to be unconscious. Beyond general pediatric dentistry, Dakota Pediatric Dentistry also offers orthodontic evaluations and treatments, including aligners, braces, and retainers, along with early intervention options. They also address specific infant oral health concerns such as lip and tongue ties with simple frenectomies. The clinic prioritizes patient education, advising parents on disease prevention, trauma prevention, good eating habits, and proper home oral hygiene routines. They aim to monitor growth and development to anticipate and intervene quickly in dental issues, fostering positive self-esteem and a healthy self-image.

I have had a really difficult time getting my daughter's dental needs addressed for several months now. I called Dakota Pediatrics Dentistry because my 7yr old little girl had developed an abscess in her mouth on top of the numerous cavities that she currently has in her mouth. Dakota Pediatrics took my daughter in the very same day Dr. Tyler saw my daughter offered a solution to my little girls needs, and I cannot be more grateful for the urgency efficiency and concern and care that they provided both myself and my daughter that day.

I am Beyond Thankful and Grateful that Dakota Pediatrics Dentistry accepted my daughter as a new patient, and is going to address and fix the issues that are going on in my daughter mouth right now. Thank you very much for everything you did and will do in the future for my daughter. Every staff member and Physician was absolutely amazing and kind I feel like my daughter is in really good hands.

My 3 oldest see Dr. Tyler Johnson and they all absolutely love him and are so comfortable with him. He preformed my 4 year olds oral surgery and was so informative. I would recommend him and the Dakota pediatrics team anytime!

Until lately, I have had a great experience with Dakota Pediatric Dentistry. My mother takes my son to his appointments, so I don’t have to miss work. Since the initial visit, she has always brought him. They require me to call for permission, even though they would recognize her over me.

At a scheduled appointment for January 2025, I called with permission, as I was going to be out of the country during his appointment. Staff told me he wasn’t on their books for any time in January. At that point, they said there had been some software problems and they could get him in April 14. Today, I called to give them permission for Grandma to be there with him and they told me he wasn’t on their books yet again! 2 times his appointments were missing on the schedule.

If I would have had Grandma go without calling with “permission “, Grandma would have wasted not only HER time, but learning time for my son as well. Not sure we’re the disconnect went wrong, but I will not be bringing him back. ☹️

We have had such a great experience at Dakota Pediatric, specially with Dr. Tyler. Our daughter had such bad anxiety going to the dentist and him and his team have made a huge positive impact on her and her dental health.

She has come such a long way and I am so proud of her and I credit Dr. Tyler and his team for making her feel comfortable and also making me feel comfortable too! I would highly recommend this office for any child. I am so thankful for this place!
