My wife, a recent legal immigrant from Thailand, was at Woodland Crest for 2 consecutive appointments to have her teeth and gums extensively deep cleaned because she suffers from mild paradontis. At the conclusion of the 2nd appointment, I paid my $1,341 of out of pocket expenses, and the insurance company was billed for the remainder. I was then told by the hygenist that my wife's problems were corrected, and to bring her back in 3 months for a check-up. However, in the following days, I discovered that the inner, upper portion of my wife's teeth was deeply stained, unpolished, and a large amount of tartar remained.

(see attached pic) During a 3rd and final appointment to have the job done right, Dr Shivali Patel DDS completed the work herself and stated she "didn't know what happened". This type of shoddy medical care is fraudulent and unacceptable. As such, I will be pursuing further action against Woodland Crest.

Got a flier for a cleaning, exam and x-rays promo and wasn't pleased with my previous provider. So glad I called and booked an appointment! It was the most thorough visit I've ever had. Alyssa was very knowledgable and explained my X-rays and very detailed in my cleaning/care. Dr. Patel was great too! I feel very comfortable going back. Booked another visit for 6 months.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have positive experiences here. Although Alyssa the hygienist was nice, she sprayed my face numerous times during the teeth cleaning and was rough with the flossing. Not to mention, there was an error with the receptionist on getting my contact info correct as well as scheduling, I wish I had a more positive experience here.

The one star is for the billing practices. I had to get a crown, and I was shown what insurance was going to pay and what I would have to pay. I budget for what I have to pay. My insurance wouldn't cover everything. So, I get a bill for almost $800. I'm frustrated at this point because what's the point of checking prior to what insurance is going to pay for only to find out that insurance is going to cover everything. But I was offered a payment agreement in May.

The agreement that was settled on was 261. 24 starting in June and the last payment ending in August. No initial payment was collected as I didn't know how much I could take out of HSA and how much I would have to pay out of checking/credit. I went home and figured out what I could take from my HSA and paid the first 261. 24. I thought that would satisfy the June payment and give me an extra month to get Julys payment in order. This is where I get pretty upset.

First, why am I getting a billing call at 7:30 in the morning that wakes me up? Secondly, I tried to explain that the agreement was for 3 months, and I made June's payment in May. I was told that the payment in May was the initial payment, and I needed to make another payment this month. I stopped trying to explain and just paid the 261. 24. But I wasn't ready to make a payment today. This has been a nightmare of an experience. What is the purpose of signing the paper before the procedure that shows what insurance will cover and what the patient will cover?
