BEWARE!!!!!! I went to my appointment at dental faculty associates on 11/13/20 like I've been doing for the past 25+ years. I have new dental coverage and asked the person at the front desk to check that they have it on file. She (older, shorter, heavy set, white female) didn't appear to want to take the card. She said that it didn't have the information that she needed. I asked what she needed and she said "the group number". I told her its right here and pointed at it. She said that was my insurance card and it didn't have the information she needed. I explained to her that it was my "dental" insurance card which was specifically for dental. She took the card and literally said, "let me take time out of my day to take care of your insurance problem". I told her I didn't understand what the problem was. She said that knowing my insurance coverage is MY responsibility. She said that I am given a pamphlet when I get new insurance and it's my responsibility to know what it says and what my coverages are.

I told her that I know D. F. A. are outside of my network, but I just pay the difference of what my insurance covers. She continued making comments about MY responsibility and dropped a "since Obama Care" comment. At this point I lost my temper and couldn't believe what was going on. I told her that the last time I was in I showed her the card (holding it up for her). She looked at it and said, "Yes, thats what we have on file". This was not true as that appointment never got billed to my new insurance. She told me that she put my new information in and "they" changed it. I proceeded to call her a liar (as I had confirmed with billing that they still had my old information) at which point she threatened to call security on me. My appointed ended with her going into the back and coming out with a male dentist who stood about 6'3" telling me that it would be best if I left.

He also told me (once we were away from her) that this woman was close to retirement and he finds that more "conflict" tends to happen between employees and patients as the employee gets closer to retirement time. So. . . . . I will be looking for a new dentist after 25+ years of excellent service at D. F. A. It's sad that this person's frustration with their job, and perhaps their career choice, has lead to her lashing out at me for daring to have an insurance change.
