Detailed Introduction

Dental Sleep Medicine of Saratoga is a specialized dental practice located at 368 Broadway Suite #18, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. This practice focuses exclusively on the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders, primarily snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Their approach centers on providing custom-fabricated oral appliances that help patients achieve better sleep and improve their overall health. The core service offered by Dental Sleep Medicine of Saratoga is Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT). These custom-made devices are designed to be worn at night, similar to a retainer or mouthguard. They work by gently repositioning the lower jaw forward, which in turn opens the airway and prevents it from collapsing during sleep. This method offers a comfortable, portable, and quiet alternative to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines, which can be challenging for some patients to tolerate. The process at Dental Sleep Medicine of Saratoga typically involves an initial consultation to discuss the patient's sleep issues and symptoms. They emphasize the importance of a recent sleep study (ideally less than one year old) to accurately diagnose the condition. The practice often assists patients in obtaining a sleep study, either through at-home kits or by coordinating with their physician. Once a diagnosis is confirmed, the team handles all medical insurance verification to maximize coverage for the patient's treatment. A 3D scan of the patient's teeth is taken (eliminating the need for traditional goopy impressions) to create a precise custom oral appliance. Finally, a fitting appointment ensures the device is comfortable and effective, leading to a "happy sleeping" experience for the patient. The team at Dental Sleep Medicine of Saratoga is dedicated to providing personalized care, understanding that proper diagnosis and a tailored treatment plan are crucial for successful outcomes. They aim to improve patients' quality of life by alleviating symptoms such as loud snoring, frequent waking, daytime fatigue, dry mouth, and teeth grinding, all of which can be indicative of sleep apnea. By addressing these issues, they contribute to a reduction in the risk of associated systemic conditions like hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Patient testimonials often highlight the professionalism, caring nature, and effectiveness of the treatment received at the practice.

Worst dentist ever, my Husband just had brain surgery and is unable to hear very well as he had ATZ and ATN reconstruction surgery. He was on phone with me to fill out paperwork, as I could not go in with him due to Covid restrictions. They kicked my husband out for being loud, not rude, just loud on phone with me, due to hearing issues after surgery.

We drove 3 hours for this appointment to have them cancel his on the spot, then refused to answer my calls to follow up. This is a disability issue and will be addressed as such. Worst patient service ever!!!

From the half hour that I've experienced, she was a very polite and quiet woman (just like me). She was very sweet and caring and told me what I needed done, her communication skills are good.

I was a bit concerned about the TV for a second since you don't typically see it while you're in the chair, but realized the relaxation it provides and the nice music she plays in the background. Will update when I get some work done (:

I WOULD RATHER DEAL WITH AN ABSCESS THAN GO TO HER FOR DENTAL WORK. Originally it was a bit odd that she had an upstairs dentistry along with working alone but she was the only one who took my insurance so it was ignored. I went in for a routine checkup and she told me I needed cleaning and a root canal. she stated she could not do it because she didnt have the proper equipment and that I needed to find somewhere else to go. Which is fine. But I couldnt get in anywhere because no one was taking my insurance. I developed a painful abscess and a rocky tooth. I called and called, no response, I messaged her and told her what was happening and that it was a dental emergency, she took well over 24 hours to respond to me, and even then scheduled and appointment hours later. I was in excruciating pain.

At that scheduled appointment, She was very kind to my tooth, as not to cause any more pain, when we took x Ray's to see if it could be fixed She said it could be after I suggested pulling it. She had the equipment to do my root canal. So she put me on antibiotics and sent me home to do a follow up appointment for a root canal. My pain subsided within a few days just as she said and I was excited as ever to go in and get it done. As I got in we greeted each other and I sat down in the chair. I very CLEARLY still had an infection, (you could see the abscess and the pus draining) later I was told that dentists aren't supposed to do dental work on infections due to health risks, and she was more than willing. She instructed me to close my eyes, every time I would open them she would demand me to close them, when she wasnt even doing anything inside my mouth and was just setting up. She told me "I cant do this if you're not going to listen, you need to let me just do this". She told me to turn off my phone and to just lay still with my legs and arms flat.

She reiterated numerous times her credentials on being a dentist, which sounded like she was convincing herself more than me. I asked if she could walk through everything shes about to do before she does it if she wants my eyes closed, she agreed and reassured me that she would tell me what shes going to do before she did it,. As she began putting things in my mouth my eyes remained closed and I asked ,"what's that" she then stated, " this is what isnt going to happen, I dont have time to explain everything I'm doing too you, I have to focus and I cant tell you what every instrument is" I have a traumatic past. I CAN NOT SIT THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THAT WITH MY EYES SHUT THE WHOLE TIME. She was very unprofessional because as soon as I said, "I cant sit here with my eyes closed", she said, "okay I wish you luck with another dentist. her way or the high way and I've never seen a dentist behave in such a manner.
