I recently moved to this office and initially really liked it. I have high anxiety regarding the dentist due to past trauma- and was coming from a dental office that offered nitrous for procedures, etc. I looked up Des Peres smiles and saw they offered sedation dentistry as well, therefore felt comfortable trying it as it was closer to my new home. My first cleaning was great. 2nd cleaning was ok but not as great as first. I just had a weird feeling about the place that time for some reason. Then when I can back for a 3rd cleaning, it was discovered that I had 2 cracked teeth that would need crowns. I asked about nitrous, and they told me they didn’t have it.

They then proceeded to tell me that nitrous isn’t safe to be around for young women. As a nurse myself, I knew this not to be true. We give nitrous as a form of relaxation during childbirth, as well as for other minor procedures. They did offer me some medication to take to help me relax prior which I appreciated, but I was still nervous and put off that they tried to tell me nitrous isn’t safe. Once I was back up at the front desk, I felt basically belittled for having a fear and was ensured that I would be fine. Also was told there is only 1 dentist in STL that they knew that offered sedation dentistry of any kind…. . which again is not true.

I still scheduled the first crown appointment and left. Well, after thinking about it more, my gut was telling me to not have the crowns done there. I called my previous dentist and explained what I needed to have done and they were more than welcoming and accepting. They were able to get me in within that week, gave me nitrous, and did the crown in office. It was a lovely experience. I did call Des Peres smiles to have my X-rays sent to my old office, and was told that was fine, but that if I was having work done at a different dentist that I would not be welcome back to des Peres smiles. I gladly left and returned to my previous dentist where I wasn’t shamed for having a fear of the dentist.

A fantastic dentist office that delivers outstanding care! The staff is very pleasant & extremely knowledgeable. The office is completely updated with all new equipment. They were also flexible with my unpredictable schedule. I felt at ease & had a wonderful experience...I will definitely be scheduling my next appointment with Dr. Niewdach!

I had a great first visit at Des Peres Smiles. They were able to get me in on short notice as a new patient. Shannon took of all the insurance work so I didn't need to do anything beyond giving him the name of my insurer. Finally, Allison and Dr. Niewdach were great during my cleaning. They made sure all of my questions were answered and that I was comfortable throughout my time in the chair.

This Dentist is the best! I have had procedures done as well as basic dental care. Dr. Nicole Niewdach is the best! She is honest and does a very good job on any procedures she performs! I just had my teeth whitened and they look whiter but still natural! My whole family goes there because the care is so good.

Shannon at the front desk is very good! He always helps you with scheduling and very importantly insurance coverage. A all around very good dentist!
