Detailed Introduction

District Pediatric Dentistry is a specialized dental clinic located at 3301 New Mexico Ave NW #123, Washington, DC 20016, specifically catering to the oral health needs of infants, children, and adolescents, including those with special healthcare needs. The clinic is led by Dr. Janet Yasuda, DMD, MS, who is a mother herself and prioritizes creating positive and comfortable dental experiences for young patients. The practice emphasizes a "whole health" approach, focusing on preventive care as the foundation for long-term oral health. Their services include comprehensive preventive treatments such as routine dental check-ups, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and dental sealants. They also offer nutritional counseling and guidance on establishing healthy oral habits from a young age. For restorative and other dental needs, District Pediatric Dentistry provides services like pediatric dental fillings, pulp treatments (often referred to as "baby root canals"), and extractions when necessary. They utilize cutting-edge technology, including laser technology for procedures like frenectomies (for tongue or lip ties), and digital X-rays for efficient and comfortable imaging. Understanding that dental visits can be intimidating for children, the clinic offers various sedation options, including nitrous oxide (laughing gas), to help anxious or restless children remain calm and cooperative during their procedures. The office environment is designed to be fun and welcoming, with kid-friendly amenities to make visits enjoyable for both children and parents. District Pediatric Dentistry's mission is to provide thorough, individualized care, treating every child with utmost attention and helping them develop the habits and skills necessary for a happy, healthy smile throughout their lives. They are committed to open communication with parents to ensure informed decisions about their children's dental treatment.

My 6 and 2 year olds had a blast at District Pediatric Dentistry! Dr. Janet and her staff were so welcoming that they calmed down my daughter's dentist anxiety completely! She was so comfortable that she became a great helper when her little brother had his own struggles. Everyone was super patient with him, so we were able to get him into the chair for his check up. The practice is immaculate with lots of kid friendly stuffed animals, a tent for a little calm down space, and a cool prize machine.

Dr. Janet also has great visual aids to help explain tooth friendly snacking and that back up our house snack rules. They are telling everyone at school and daycare about how cool their dentist is 😁🪥🦷! So excited to have found our dental home in DC. Update: I wanted to leave a second review for the more involved appointment that my daughter had to have to replace crowns that had been installed in a brusque manner 2 years ago and had given my daughter some trauma.

Dr. Janet was great about ensuring Zafira was ok before and during her appointment so that she walked out beaming. She has been hounding us about when she "gets" to go to the dentist again.

Dr. Janet and her staff are incredibly welcoming and patient, and the office is beautiful, clean, and very kid-friendly. My five year old had a really good experience and loved getting to watch cartoons — on the ceiling! — during his checkup, and enjoyed the prizes he received at the end. Dr.

Janet gave me helpful advice on flossing and electric toothbrushes for kids. The office is conveniently located in the Foxhall medical building. We plan to return, and I look forward to bringing my younger son here as well.

I cannot say enough good things about this practice after our first visit yesterday. Both the hygienist and dentist are so kind and patient, exactly what you want when your child's receiving care. The office is bright, engaging, and set up for little ones. My daughter felt comfortable and even enjoyed her appointment.

For parents, the scheduling and business aspects are efficient, as well. Real care and attention on every level here.

We absolutely love Dr. Janet and Sophie at District Pediatric Dentistry! I recently brought my 16 mo daughter for her first visit, and it went better than I could have asked for. Dr. Janet has a great bedside manner with a focus on patient education while also being genuine and kind.

The office is warm, inviting, and clean, and tailored to little ones (I'm honestly jealous I didn't have someone like her as a kid since I spent a lot of time in the dentist's chair). If you're bringing a toddler in for the first time, she actually has a separate room for the first visit that helps your kiddo with getting acclimated to the office and allows you to hold them instead of plopping them in a chair by themselves. I also want to highlight that Dr. Janet and her staff go above and beyond.

My 2 mo old was with me when we went in for the appt as my husband was working and Sophie, her assistant, was so kind and held him so I could focus on my daughter. I look forward to future visits and am excited to see Dr. Janet's business continue to grow!
