Ebenezer Medical Outreach (EMO) is a well-established non-profit organization based in Huntington, West Virginia, dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable, and often free healthcare services. Founded in 1986 as an outreach initiative of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, EMO has grown from a weekly volunteer-run clinic to a full-time medical facility. It operates from the Douglass Centre, a renovated high school building, and is committed to serving the uninsured, underinsured, and West Virginia Medicaid beneficiaries with household incomes up to 300% of the Federal Poverty Level. EMO offers a wide range of medical services, including Family Medicine/primary care, Internal Medicine, a dental clinic (for established patients), Laboratory Services, and various specialty clinics such as Cardiology, Orthopedics, Podiatry, and Women's Health. Beyond direct patient care, EMO is deeply involved in community health through numerous outreach programs. These include annual events for vision and hearing exams, comprehensive cancer screenings (colorectal, breast, and cervical), community testing and vaccination events in partnership with local health departments, and a Community Health Worker program supporting patients with chronic diseases. The organization also champions initiatives focused on holistic well-being, such as the Unity Garden, a community garden that provides fresh produce for its "FARMacy" program, offering healthy food and education to patients with chronic diseases. Other notable outreach efforts include "Fit on 10th" (a partnership with the Huntington YMCA for exercise and health education), "Medically Indicated Food Boxes" in collaboration with the Facing Hunger Foodbank, and specialized health awareness programs like "Save Our Sisters" (women's health, particularly cancer detection) and "My Brother's Keeper" (men's health, focusing on prostate and colorectal cancer). EMO also runs CRUSAIDS (Concerned Residents United to Stop AIDS), an HIV/AIDS education and prevention program with testing and risk reduction efforts.
