Detailed Introduction

The East Carolina University (ECU) School of Dental Medicine is a prominent dental institution located in Greenville, North Carolina. Established with a mission to address the shortage of dentists in the rural and underserved regions of North Carolina, it has become the state's second Dental school, enrolling its inaugural class in the fall of 2011. The school operates as a comprehensive center for dental education, research, and patient care. Its curriculum for the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) program is a four-year commitment, integrating classroom learning, hands-on clinical skills acquisition, and extensive patient care. A unique aspect of their fourth-year program involves rotations at eight Community Service Learning Centers (CSLCs) situated in rural and underserved areas across North Carolina. These centers are equipped with modern facilities, allowing students to gain practical experience while providing much-needed dental services to local communities. ECU School of Dental Medicine offers a broad spectrum of dental services to the public through its various clinics: Student Clinics: Here, patients receive care from dental students under the direct supervision of experienced faculty. These clinics offer a cost-effective option for comprehensive dental treatment. Resident Clinics: Post-doctoral residents, under faculty guidance, provide advanced care, often for more complex cases, as they complete their specialized training. Faculty Practice: This clinic allows patients to be treated directly by the school's faculty dentists, offering a private practice-like setting with the expertise of leading dental professionals. Hospital Dentistry: Located at the ECU Health Medical Center, this specialized facility focuses on providing dental care for medically complex patients, often referred by other medical providers. The range of services includes, but is not limited to: Comprehensive General Dentistry (cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures) Cosmetic Dentistry (whitening, veneers) Emergency Dentistry Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Endodontics (root canals) Periodontics (gum disease treatment, gum grafts) Orthodontics Pediatric Dentistry Oral Medicine Orofacial Pain and TMD treatment Implant Services Special Needs Dentistry Beyond patient care and pre-doctoral education, the ECU School of Dental Medicine also offers several post-doctoral residency programs, including Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD), General Practice Residency (GPR), and Pediatric Dentistry. The institution is also actively involved in research, with faculty and students conducting studies in various areas of oral health, biomaterials, and health disparities, contributing to advancements in dental science and clinical practice. The school emphasizes a holistic approach to oral health, recognizing its integral connection to overall well-being.

My experience in ahoskie at the ECU Dental school they put all my top teeth out the first week of June they told me in 4 to 6 weeks I would get some teeth. They also filled a few teeth in the bottom The young man drilled a hole in my bottom teeth, went to talking to someone come back and told me to have a good day. I went back in two weeks, showed them my tooth they had to leave and make a little discussion. Come back and fill the hole in my tooth like nothing ever happened, that was two weeks of pain like I said, they pulled my teeth. The first week of June told me for the six weeks for me to get teeth, I kept going to them every two weeks every two weeks every two weeks they kept messing up with teeth they would not see it. I went back December 16. The woman pointing her finger in my face and told me to get them the plastic teeth or whatever did they give me the first time which four months earlier she told me to throw them in the trash, cause they didn’t fit it but then she told me that day on the 16th she pointed her finger in my face, like I’m a child and started talking very rude and ugly to me.

Now I’m sitting here with no teeth. They told me that they didn’t want me there no more because I told her I was the patient she was a doctor she needs to fix this. I’ve been through all summer and all the holidays with no teeth very embarrassing. I would not recommend this place because they messed my mouth up and I do not have no teeth. This is wrong corrupt but I guess I’m gonna have to see them in court because I’m gonna get some teeth one way or another. They messed my insurance up and it’s not fair. It’s not right for somebody to put their finger in a grown man’s face and talk is rude.

is that woman talk to me that day , but I’ll make sure that I’m gonna sue her personally because I am a photographer and I recorded every session that I went into in there and I wanna show everyone this high unprofessionally they treating you and I understand that they are kids that are learning how to do dental work, but you know this is a persons mouth. They gotta live with the rest of their life and if they can get it right, maybe someone else, but this is the view that I took from this place and I would not never recommend no one going to it because it’s very unsanitary in there. Everything is nasty. Every time I go me or my son we want it with cold souls on our mouth , never have them before a very unprofessional place. If you want to go there and talk to that’s the place to go not only me is everybody that goes in there and recordings that everybody seen the head that they’re talking so rude to everybody in there, I think the place should be closed down , they told me I went to the doctor next-door and I had the damn flu and then two weeks later I had a cold from the flu and the flu Derek dirt place with one of their clients and their coughing and spitting all over everything this place needs to be shut down very unprofessional and here I am going through Christmas with no teeth ha ha ha merry Christmas to you ECU I can’t believe that

Refused service due to high blood pressure. 155/86. American dental standards are 160/ 80. They caused my blood pressure to go up. It was 123/ 81 last week at doctors office. Went and had it checked at med center immediately after leaving the school. 128/80. The student took my blood pressure around my elbow with my arm lifted and not resting on anything. Horrible, unprofessional treatment.

My mom had her tooth pull she was in and out and only had to pay 235. She said the staff was great and friendly. These are students with supervision why would expect more than what you are paying for. And you know the risk when you go. Thank you for taking care of my Mom she was in a lot of pain .
