My search for a qualified SMART-certified dentist to SAFELY remove toxic mercury amalgam dental fillings is over! Dentist Dr. Hwang at Evergreen Dental Wellness (in Annandale, VA) successfully removed specks of mercury amalgam from 11 teeth, replaced 8 composite fillings, and placed 3 new crowns. I found Dr. Hwang listed as a mercury-safe dentist on the IAOMT. org site. I specifically went to him to get every speck of mercury amalgam removed from my teeth. My previous dentist replaced my mercury amalgam fillings with composite fillings 10+ years ago, but sadly left behind specks of mercury in many teeth. Even tiny specks of mercury can cause health problems, including headaches and cracked teeth.

While carefully reviewing my x-rays, Dr. Hwang identified 11 teeth with specks (10 were cracked and 3 needed crowns). BOTTOM LINE: After frustrating visits to two less-skilled dentists who could not (or would not) help, I am GRATEFUL to Dr. Hwang for fixing all my teeth and doing it SAFELY. I gladly drove nearly 200 miles roundtrip for each of three appointments. YES, dental work is VERY expensive ($350+ per filling, and $2200+ per crown). I left the dental office much poorer but very satisfied. They don't take insurance, but provide a form for you to file if you have insurance.

IMPORTANT: I emailed digital x-rays before my consultation, because they did not have digital x-rays as of 8/13/24. (UPDATE 6/18/25: They now have digital x-rays). Digital x-rays are needed to allow a "before & after" comparison of each tooth to confirm every speck of mercury is gone. I highly recommend Dr. Hwang and his entire staff, including Jackie who ably assisted with the dental work, as well as Michele and Tezzy at the front desk.

I had a side filling up near the gum, on one of my eye teeth, and it fell out. It was put in by a different dentist 11 years ago. I saw Dr. Hwang and staff to put in a new one. Not only did they make me feel comfortable during the procedure, no pain, but the final result looks and feels amazing!

I have been coming here for 8 years and have so impressed with the thoroughness of the care given to me. And now that the practice is transitioning to Dr. Hwang this level of care is continuing at the same high level. Not only is the dental care great but the office staff is equally efficient and friendly.

They have helped me numerous times in working with insurance reimbursements and billing. And the added bonus is the fact that this is a biological dentistry practice. I highly recommend this office.
