Last October I had been dealing with a cracked, infected tooth. I had already seen a couple of dentists who were unable to help me. They referred me to an Endodontist for a root canal. I went to have that done and he couldn’t save it as it was too far cracked. After calling around to a bunch of places, Facial Designs could get me in the soonest. They would not give me any pricing over the phone. Nobody I had called would do this.

I needed an implant as my tooth was in my smile line. I went in and was pretty surprised that it was so much money, but again it was infected and I needed to get it done. I was charged over $4,500 for the tooth removal and the implant placed. They told me that the crown would be extra. I assumed it would be around $1000 and my insurance would kick in half. Now it’s February and I return for my checkup. They told me the crown was going to cost $3000 more! I told them I would check with my dentist.

I checked a number of places throughout the metro area. I was getting quotes for crowns around $1000-$1500. I also asked the dentists who did implants for some pricing options. The place I went with would have charged me $2500 complete with the crown for this implant. Do you know how sickening it feels to know you paid double that for just the implant! I still had to pay about $1200 for the crown because they didn’t do the implant and needed the correct tools to place the crown! Please do your checking and just because you are sitting in their chair, don’t make the appt and sign up for the payment plan! Check around! Get another round of antibiotics if you have to. They want you to feel like this is your only chance of getting a tooth. It’s all about the sale! I wish I had checked around more!

If you have any kind of dental anxiety, Dr. Van and the folks at Facial Designs are perfect for you. They genuinely care. It’s easy to spot those who don’t.

They take the time to make you feel comfortable, explain any questions, and in my case, who I’ve always been tough to get numb, pulled an infected tooth prior to my implant surgery, and it went incredibly smooth. Everybody in this industry should take a page out of Dr. Van and Facial Designs playbook. Will be recommending to everybody I know that needs serious dental work! ~ Smig
