Detailed Introduction

Family Health Services is a prominent healthcare provider operating in Norwalk, Ohio, and surrounding areas. It is classified as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), a designation that highlights its commitment to serving underserved populations and providing comprehensive primary care services. Their mission is to offer high-quality, compassionate, and affordable healthcare, aiming to be a "healthcare home" that addresses the physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being of their patients. The organization accepts various insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurances. Crucially, they also utilize a sliding fee scale for eligible patients, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent access to necessary care. This commitment to accessibility is a core tenet of their operations. Family Health Services provides a broad spectrum of services, encompassing: Primary Care: General medicine, physical examinations, acute illness treatment (fever, flu, infections), preventative health screenings, chronic disease management, immunizations, and family planning. Behavioral Health: Assessment and treatment for anxiety, depression, developmental disabilities, 1-on-1 counseling, couples and family therapy, drug use support, recovery support, and substance-use disorder counseling. Dental Services: Operative dentistry (fillings), exams, patient education, radiographs, cleanings, limited periodontal treatment, stainless steel crowns on baby teeth, crown and bridge work, surgical and routine extractions, and endodontic treatment (root canal therapy). Nutrition Services: Including access to programs like pop-up free food markets with fresh produce and canned goods for eligible individuals, and on-site registered dietitians. Pharmacy Services: Many of their clinics have on-site pharmacies, and as an FQHC, they benefit from the 340B government program, allowing them to purchase pharmaceuticals at a lower rate and pass savings to patients, especially those on the sliding fee scale. Family Health Services emphasizes a patient-centered approach, focusing on team-based care that includes specialties, hospitalizations, referral management, and disease management, all in collaboration with the patient and their caregivers. They actively work to remove financial and transportation barriers to healthcare. While specific historical details for the Norwalk location aren't extensively detailed in the search results, the broader Family Health Services organization has a history dating back to 1964, providing services to migrant workers and later expanding to serve all residents with federal grant support. This indicates a long-standing dedication to community health.

I was really happy when they were able to get my son in early due to a cancellation because he ran out of his meds. They were helpful and understanding. Then I realized they hadn’t sent in his prescription to the pharmacy. I called back twice the next day. The woman I talked to was very sweet and understanding. She sent the practitioner high priority messages.

When more hours went by I called back a 3rd time. This time the woman I talked to was rude and told me they have 2-3 days to send in the prescription. Now my child who was hospitalized due to suicidal thoughts now has to wait the weekend without meds because they couldn’t take the time to send the order to the pharmacy. Yes, I know I should have called them sooner to schedule before he ran out BUT Kobacker was supposed to schedule him somewhere to keep up on his meds and they dropped the ball and I had too much faith in them to get the job done. I will be looking at a different facility to take my child. Update: Had another appointment on 5/23 for a med refill.

As of 6/2 the meds still have not been sent to our pharmacy. If you don’t need meds in a timely manner then this is the place for you. I’m highly disappointed in this place and would not recommend them to anyone.

I went here for Dentures. I went in in October to get the first impressions and they said my mouth was too small and I had to get a personalized tray, which is fine however this process should take approximately 4 months being one month between visits. That would bring me to around February or March as to when I would get my dentures. So I went to make my appointment for November and they said "we had a dentist quit so now we cant get you in till February". That is 4 months for my first impressions, then they call me about a week ago and said well the dentist will be on vacation so we have to cancel your February appointment and can not get you in until April 30th.

This is totally unprofessional and not acceptable. I was trying to explain to the appointment making staff my concerns and they just pretty much said sorry that is just the way it has to be. If I could give no stars I sure would.

I've been going to this location a very long time. I've seen at least three PCPs as well as my behavioral health and dental health. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had, I even made sure to ask my provider yesterday(Friday) that my blood work order would be faxed over to firelands so I could go today(Saturday) to get my blood work done since it's the only time I have until next weeked, but the order was never faxed over to firelands so I called Fisher Titus to make sure there wasn't a mistake and there was no order there either. Of course they're not open on the weekends which makes no sense but what do I know? I don't drive and had to arrange a ride at 7am AND fast for 12 hours. Overall this bad experience is overshadowing all the good ones I've had.

I am so upset. I have been feeling ill for years and no one can figure it out. Time to start looking elsewhere.

Great place for dental work. Clean, up to date, and super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Made what could be a very bad experience pleasant and easy. I'll never go anywhere else.
