Make sure you record conversations between yourself and your dentists and staff. Know your rights especially your right to choose the treatment you want. I had a bad experience and got bamboozled into signing a treatment option I did not want just because the dentist and dental staff refused to request pre-authorization for the bridging treatment that I wanted (the bridging treatment was covered by my insurance, the implant was not). Dentists and dental staff kept sending pre-authorization request for implant.

They are so disingenuous as they know that most insurers do not cover implants. I saw my chart - the dentist claimed I wanted an implant, which is a big, fat LIE.

I needed a front tooth replacement but my insurance brochure specifically states implants are not covered. i chose the bridging procedure but since it is a major procedure, dentist needs to submit pre-authorization but dentists keep submitting for implant because they earn more money/profit from it. The manager called me to persuade me to get the implant. I refused. Dentist scared me that if I did not get treatment soon, my gums would recede and showed me $4500 bill and makes me sign it.

No cost info was provided on bridging. I complained to the Royal Canadian Dental Surgeons of Ontario but RCDSO sided with the dentist and said I was given informed consent. How was it informed if there was NO cost info on bridging? The case is on appeal with the Allied Health Professional Review Board. Record all conversations with any dental office because unethical conducts should be punished.
