Their office is clean, the staff is friendly, and the treatments are based on best medical practice. I can't say enough about this team, I recommend them to everyone in the area.

I am so Thankful for Dr Freeland for helping me. I have tried to get help from many different sources after my jaw was hyperextended during oral surgery to the point it was pulled out of place. I’ve tried so hard and spent a lot of money to no avai. Then my specialist encouraged me to make the hour plus drive to see Dr.

TLDR: Adult TMJ patients --> Get a 2nd opinion. Splint therapy at Freeland Orthodontics may result in significant unintended outcomes. For those looking for relief from the symptoms associated with TMJ disorders: I would recommend getting other opinions for treatment, especially if you are an adult. After several years of "treatment" with Dr. Freeland, I was left with an open bite and symptoms that were worse and different than when I started treatment. Patient's are not made aware that an anterior open bite is a potential (likely) outcome when undergoing occlusal splint therapy with Dr. Freeland. I am not the first or the last patient left in this condition. Unfortunately, I have come to learn that Dr. Freeland has a bit of a reputation for leaving people with open bites after prolonged treatment. In hindsight it's obvious that these devices have the potential to create an open bite with long term use. The extreme change in bite was not the only unintended effect related to Dr.

Freeland's work. There has been significant remodeling of the skull. Over time, the overall function of the head/neck was negatively impacted. This may have contributed to the development of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. I believe the use of her splints likely played a role in the OSA, although that cannot be proven. Overall, this process of change was extremely painful and I believe unnecessarily painful. It should be noted that I also spent significant time working with Dr. Freeland and patients: I have a solid understanding of how the process works and how lax/unprofessional the approach has been. Even if this practice were ran efficiently, the approach used by Dr. Freeland is somewhat archaic at best and reckless/inaccurate at worst. The overworked and understaffed nature of the environment is an obvious problem that also negatively effects quality of care. As a potential patient, the process is made to look appropriate, but I would urge you to seek other opinions before comitting to treatment.

Don't let desperation make the decision. There are other Specialists taking different approaches. Thankfully, I was finally able to find a group of Doctors who are actually working together to help me repair and rebuild a structure that is stable and functional. Also worth noting that most of the positive reviews for Freeland Ortho were incentivized. I don't leave reviews often, but felt that this review was necessary. If this helps one person, then it's worth it. P. S. --> Dr. Freeland does provide above-average orthodontic tx for children/adolescents. Adult cases involving TMJD are difficult to diagnose and treat effectively.
