Such an awesome doctor and great staff! I had 4 wisdom teeth removed, Dr. Chi did an amazing job. He explained the process very well, and asked me if I had any questions, he made me feel very calm and completely at ease. The whole process took 30-45 minutes and I was out of there in no time.

The sedation was very helpful in calming me down and making sure I did not feel any pain. Dr. Chi even called 2 days later just to check in and make sure I was fine. Very highly recommend!

I had so much dental anxiety about getting my wisdom teeth removal surgery that I pushed it off for years. It wasn’t until I found Howard Chi Dental that I decided to finally get them removed, and I am SO glad that I chose this oral surgeon for the operation. I had an initial consultation and a 3D X-ray scan appointment. The day of the 3D X-ray, I scheduled my surgery appointment for 2 weeks after. The procedures and risks were explained thoroughly which eased my nerves.

On the day of surgery, I was IV sedated and in a “twilight zone”. So, I was awake and conscious throughout (which the thought of it sounds scary) but the procedure was painless and I barely felt a thing! Surgery for all 4 wisdom teeth was done in about 30 min. I barely had any swelling and was back to my normal self the next day. I would absolutely recommend Dr Howard Chi to anyone that needs their wisdom teeth removed!

My daughter has a congenital defect and lacks a permanent tooth growing where the milk tooth is to drop off. Her orthodontist gave us a referral to see an oral surgeon who can do the extraction and fill the empty spot with dental implant. We had to use Dr. Howard Chi who was covered by our insurance. When I fixed an appointment to see Dr Chi, his office asked for a copy of the prescription to review before we could fix the appointment to see him. I was told that Dr. Chi will not see a patient unless he knows he can do the job ie. The extraction and dental implant. After reviewing our prescription, we got a call that the doctor understands what’s expected and that he can do the treatment which we were told had to happen in a hospital. An appointment was then fixed.

When we proceeded to see the doctor, we were told via phone (after copy of prescription was emailed), Dr Chi would offer a consultation first based on the initial find in the prescription. My daughter was then given an X-ray and told that she needed to do a three-dimensional X-ray which was to establish if she had a bone loss in the area where the permanent tooth was not growing. We were told that the doctor would present the best case possible to the insurance company to ensure that the three dimensional Xray would be covered as this was a congenital defect that was existing through no fault of hers. About 10 days lapsed and we got a call that the insurance company had denied the claim for the Xray and we were told we had to pay $250 to do it if we wanted to continue seeing Dr Chi. We were shocked and received paperwork from the insurance company that they denied the claim because it was not medically necessary. We do not understand what manner Dr Chi had written to the insurance company that the treatment my daughter needs, is not medically necessary. Fact is if my daughter did not get a dental implant in the area, she is bound to experience more issues with her surrounding teeth collapsing as she grows because of the large empty space where her milk tooth was. In the end, we got a call from the office advising us that Dr Chi does not do tooth extractions and dental implants. This is not what we were initially told. We were led to believe he was a licensed oral surgeon who could do the extraction and dental implant.

We were also told we needed to see someone else! How dare they waste our time! Was it to mislead us just to see him just so the office could initially charge the insurance company for the X-rays and the consultation while knowing they could not go the job to begin with? I’m inclined to be skeptical about whether we are seeing a professional oral surgeon. Surely, by looking at the emailed copy of the prescription from our orthodontist, Dr Chi should have been able to garner the amount of work needed to correct the problem my daughter was going through and to see if he could do the job. My orthodontist is highly qualified and knows what he was writing in the prescription. Now, I have to seek the advice of another proper oral surgeon who can professionally handle the job needed to have the tooth extracted and a dental implant embedded where the permanent tooth should have grown. This is not acceptable behavior and I’m writing this review to warn other patients to be careful about fixing appointments with Dr Howard Chi’s office only to be told later after all the consultation and X-rays have been expensed, that the job is not doable. Your insurance company may not even cover the next time you are forced to see another legitimate oral surgeon for the same treatment that was covered. Imagine the agony my daughter is going through trying to deal with a congenital defect, visiting a so-called oral surgeon only to be told he does not know what to do. He was just WASTING our precious time just to bill the insurance company and was all along planning to let us drip and dry!!! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!! Please be careful when seeing this office.

Update: After careful thought and reflection, I feel comfortable enough to share my experience with this place. For some reason, I did not have Dr. Chi but rather another doctor which was Dr. Muduli. I was told that I was going under general anesthesia for my wisdom tooth surgery, however I was awake for the whole thing. The pain that I felt during that surgery was the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life and it was traumatizing to experience. Dr.

Muduli was the most nastiest and rudest healthcare provider that I’ve had had to endure. I was crying during the whole surgery because of the pain and I was met with only comments like “Stop crying”. Do yourself a favor and do not come to this place if you have this doctor. I can’t speak on Dr. Chi, but unfortunately I’m posting this review because the establishment was named after him.
