I have been going to Granite View for a few years. My dental hygienist has been so amazing to me over the years. Recently I had an emergency with a cracked tooth and needed a root canal. Dr Ellingson was able to get me in for an appointment the next day.
They sent me home with all the paperwork to read through the procedure and the tools they use, as well as a clear explanation of what my insurance pays, and what I would be responsible for. Dr Ellingson talked me through each step he was taking during the procedure, and it turned out great. 5 Stars, and very transparent with the financial part (not sure why the other reviews say otherwise).

My husband recently had his first appointment at Granite View Dental, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a very disappointing and frustrating experience for both of us. He has always maintained good oral hygiene — brushing, flossing daily, and getting regular dental cleanings every 6 months. During this visit, after a brief examination, the dentist immediately recommended an aggressive treatment plan that included laser cleaning, deep cleaning, and other procedures that would total over $500 out of pocket. These treatments were not covered by insurance. We were skeptical, so we contacted our insurance provider. They confirmed that these procedures are typically not covered unless there is a documented medical necessity, which didn’t apply in this case. According to the insurance rep, these types of treatments are often considered upselling tactics if not clinically justified.
Because the recommendations seemed excessive and based on fear (they warned my husband he could start losing his teeth), we sought a second opinion from another reputable dentist. That dentist thoroughly examined him and assured us his teeth were in excellent condition and only required a standard routine cleaning, which is fully covered by insurance. No deep cleaning or laser procedures were needed at all. Even though my husband declined all the additional treatments, Granite View Dental still billed our insurance over $400 for exams and X-rays. That alone was disappointing, but what really stood out was an additional $37 out-of-pocket charge for something labeled as “Oral Hygiene Instructions. ” This was literally just a brief explanation on how to floss — something most patients already know, and certainly not worth a separate charge. We were told by the office that “this charge is usually covered by insurance,” but when we contacted our provider, they were clear: this type of charge is not considered reasonable or medically necessary, and thus they won’t reimburse it.
The entire experience felt more like a business transaction than a dental appointment focused on genuine care. It’s especially concerning that patients who aren’t familiar with what’s necessary or covered could be pressured into paying hundreds of dollars for treatments they don’t need. Bottom line: If you're someone who doesn't fully understand dental treatment options, be very careful. Don’t be afraid to get a second opinion before agreeing to expensive procedures. Be aware of extra charges like "oral hygiene instructions" that may not be covered. We won’t be returning to Granite View Dental, and we hope this review helps others avoid a similar experience.

I had been looking for a new dentist for quite some time. Every dentist I went to wanted to pull all my teeth and do implants because 4 teeth were missing. A little over a year ago I went to an appointment at Granite View Dental and feeling defeated and thinking my only option was going to be implants, knowing I’d never be able to afford them. Then after the X-rays and cleaning Dr. Ellingson walk in, introduced himself and talked for a bit about my other appointments and said ‘Let’s see what I can do for you’.
After my exam he said that he would definitely NOT pull my teeth and that most of them would just need caps and a few with just fillings. I literally started crying knowing how much less this route would save me. To top it off he says ‘I’m not about making money, I’m about helping patients like you’ I told him I had lost hope and was going to let them fall out and get dentures. Because he cares about his patients wallets I’m able to get so much of the work done already. And found out why the teeth issues were happening and can take steps for them.
Lastly, his ENTIRE staff have been the most supportive and amazing people. They cheer for all the progress I’ve made. So with all that said, THANK YOU SO MUCH GRANITE VIEW DENTAL!!! I can smile again. Here’s two before pics and two where I’m at now, such a difference already!
