Detailed Introduction

Great Mines Health Center (GMHC) is a well-established healthcare provider operating in Missouri, specifically serving communities within St. Francois and Washington counties. Based on the "Health Center" in its name and the comprehensive range of services it offers across multiple locations (Farmington and Potosi), it is clearly a clinic rather than an individual practice. GMHC is recognized as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), a designation that underscores its commitment to providing primary healthcare services in underserved areas, regardless of a patient's ability to pay. GMHC offers a wide array of integrated healthcare services designed to meet the diverse needs of the community. These include: medical services: Comprehensive general primary care for all ages, including family medicine, office visits, and possibly school-based health centers. Dental Services: Full-service dental care for both adults and pediatric patients, encompassing comprehensive exams, cleanings, X-rays, root canals, crowns, dentures, and even sedation services for anxious patients. behavioral health Services: Support for mental health and substance abuse treatment, recognizing the importance of holistic well-being. Pharmacy, Lab & Radiology: On-site or accessible services for prescriptions, diagnostic testing, and imaging. Community Services: Beyond traditional clinical care, GMHC actively engages in community health initiatives. This includes a Mobile Integrated Healthcare Network (MIHN) for in-home patient care, food pantry services, community food distribution, and Community Health Workers who assist patients in accessing essential resources like transportation, food, clothing, utilities, and employment services. Great Mines Health Center is dedicated to patient-centered care, striving to ensure a positive experience for every individual. They accept most private insurances, Medicaid, and Medicare, and notably offer a sliding scale payment program for uninsured patients, making healthcare accessible to those with limited incomes. Their mission is "to improve the health of our whole community through excellence in patient care and health education," reflecting a holistic approach to wellness that extends beyond the clinic walls. They are committed to continuous quality improvement and patient-centered care, as evidenced by their NCQA recognition.

Great Mines Health Center is a vital part of our community—offering compassionate, accessible dental care for everyone. As a single mom on a tight budget, I appreciate their sliding-scale fees and help with insurance paperwork. Dr. Myers is patient and thorough, whether she’s checking my 10-year-old’s braces or doing my routine cleaning. The office is welcoming, with a friendly staff that never makes you feel rushed.

They squeezed me in last month when I had a toothache, even though I didn’t have an appointment. My daughter loves the colorful waiting area with books, and the hygienist always gives her a little toothbrush to take home. It’s dental care that feels inclusive and caring—exactly what our community needs.

The dentist is VERY rude. He tried to look in my son's mouth and my son was turning his head so he said I can't see anything because he won't open his mouth. If he does this next time he's going to have to see a pediatric dentist. And then asked if I had any questions? In my opinion he didn't put in any real effort. Just sat right down and immediately tried to look in my two year old's mouth.

He was scared and didn't even try to make him feel safe. Will never come back here. I will say though that the two receptionists are very nice.

My experience was good up until the dentist came in. Tanner Lorenz He was rude, dismissive, and not friendly at all. I’m not one to complain and I really don’t do rating but this one had to be told! Everyone else in this building I would recommend , they were all so nice and accommodating. (5 out of 5 stars for everyone else) Hopefully something can be done with him though!
