Was a patient there for over 17 years and Dr Fiel dropped me from the practice in the middle of a medical crisis. He filled two small cavities and started drilling even though I was not numb. I have major dental anxiety from this extreme pain. After he did the fillings, the teeth would hurt whenever I put pressure on them. I went back in and he insisted the fillings were perfect and the pain was all in my head.
I went to a specialist and found that the tooth was actually cracked and required a root canal and a crown. When I called to schedule the crown is when I was told they would no longer see me at Headwaters, “because he just feels like you're not happy whenever you're here and you're always criticizing their work. " I have literally only needed fillings twice in my life and have never had a conflict with the office prior to this. I said that the tooth was cracked requiring a root canal and crown, I wasn't making it up or criticizing the fillings, I was just in pain and needed it resolved. The receptionist insisted that there was nothing she could do.
I told her there should have been some kind of documentation or followup and a referral if they were dropping me as a patient and told her Dr Fiel's ego seemed to be the problem, not me and hung up the phone. I was a wreck after this conversation, feeling like I was just supposed to pretend that I wasn't in pain so I didn't hurt the dentists feelings, rather than resolve any issues with my dental health. I was very anxious I wouldn't be able to get in for a crown before losing the tooth as dentists in the area are extremely booked out and many aren't taking new clients. I feel it was extremely unprofessional and unethical of Dr Fiel to drop me from the practice in the middle of a medical crisis that could’ve resulted in loosing a tooth, with no referral to a local dentist to take over, no care plan or followup recommendations and no indication that he planned to drop me until I was literally in the middle of getting a root canal.

Took my son in for his first dental visit (3 years old) and all the staff made the experience enjoyable and fun for my son! He cannot wait to go back :) I also get my all my dental work done here as well and the atmosphere is very relaxed and calming. Friendly staff, clean office, comfortable chairs where you get your dental work done. Nothing bad to say about this place.

I've been a patient at Headwaters Dental ever since it has opened and have had a positive experience at each appointment. All of the staff are very friendly and I always feel comfortable putting my trust in them. The calming office atmosphere along with the awesome staff create a very comfortable environment for patients. I suggest Headwaters Dental to all of my friends and family of any age!

I don't typically write reviews, but I felt compelled to counterbalance the four recent 1-star reviews that appear likely to have been written by the same disgruntled person. Headwaters Dental has provided services to me and my family since we moved to Bemidji 20 years ago. In my experience, the receptionists have always been courteous, friendly, and accommodating. There have been numerous times over the years that they have to worked to schedule appointments for one of us on very short notice. As far as the dentists are concerned, Dr.
Winslow and Dr. Feil are both down to earth and excellent at what they do. And though I am deserving of some finger wagging for not taking better care of my teeth, both dentists always remain positive and supportive (even when I messed up one's handiwork by eating a caramel that pulled out a filling). Overall, I doubt there's a better dental team in town.
