I have been coming here for about 2 years to get my teeth cleaned. I always have a good experience and I appreciate the good job everyone always does! Intermountain Smiles is also very helpful and transparent about costs for different procedures, and have broken this down for me in the past with respect to my individual insurance. Would recommend going to the dentist here!

Apparently they're interested in improving so I'll share my experience. I scheduled a free consultation last December and had to cancel because my dad was taken to the ER unresponsive. I was told it was an emergency and there wouldn't be a fee because they understood, and was rescheduled into January. My appointment comes in January and I found out last minute that my insurance was deactivated because my company had been bought out and the coverage I'd had was discontinued. I called the office and apologized, told them my insurance wasn't active and that I was very concerned I would have to pay the $1000 visit cost entirely out of pocket. They told me to come to the appointment anyways and we'd figure out what I owed later.

I, again, told them I couldn't afford to pay a full $1000 for a cleaning without insurance and didn't feel comfortable taking the risk. She told me to pay $200 as a deposit and they'd set up a payment plan later. I told them a third time that I wanted to wait until I had my new company's insurance to give them so I wouldn't have to pay completely out of pocket and she got extremely rude. She snapped at me about cancellation fees and I told her I'd be happy to pay the cancellation fee because I understood it was last minute and she put me on hold and came back with a ton of attitude that I also owed them an additional cancellation fee for the day in December even though they told me they were understanding and I wouldn't be charged. She told me they thought I was lying and that I'd need to produce a doctor's note from my dad's ER doctor to not have to pay the fee and I told her I was happy to pay the cancellation fee I'd been informed about and that I would not be returning because of how rudely I was being treated. On top of all this, they have now filed an insurance claim for my "free" consultation for $400 and sent me a bill for the amount my insurance didn't pay and tacked on late fees to boot.

So no, just so you're aware, the "free" consultation they have plastered all over their website is not free at all and they absolutely WILL file fraudulent insurance claims for it. The doctor was nice, the dental assistant that helped me with X-rays and everything was nice. Their office staff is apparently out for blood over cancellation fees. I would avoid this place at all costs.
