I had a deeply disappointing experience at Dr. Christopher King’s dental office that has left me questioning their ethics and business practices. Initially, I was quoted an astronomical $1,415 for a crown (D2740) and $344 for a core buildup (D2954), far exceeding the typical range of $800–$1,000 for crowns at in-network Delta Dental PPO providers. The pre-treatment plan was notably vague, failing to specify the crown material, which only added to my confusion about the justification for such steep costs. Compounding this, the staff's rudeness made an already frustrating visit unbearable.

I expected far better communication and professionalism from a dental practice. The situation escalated when I simply asked for a pre-authorization from my insurance. Shockingly, I was immediately informed that I could no longer receive service, a move that reeks of scummy and corrupt behavior. It’s clear to me that this practice makes it a habit to avoid working with insurance companies, likely to rake in excessively high profits at the expense of their patients. This approach not only screws over patients financially but also undermines trust in the dental profession.

The refusal of service upon requesting pre-authorization prevented me from even considering taking my business elsewhere, as I was cut off before I could make that choice. Given these experiences, I strongly advise others to steer clear of this practice. Save yourself the hassle and seek out a more transparent, courteous, and ethically sound provider. If you encounter similar issues, consider filing a complaint with your insurance provider, the state dental board, or consumer protection agencies to protect other patients from such exploitative practices.

The staff has always been very friendly and approachable, which means having the work done that I needed a little bit easier! My experience with Dr. King and his staff have prompted me to make Dr. King my primary dental health provider.

I hesitate to tell the world how perfect this place is - for fear of getting it all booked up! If everyone knew how truly perfect they are… EVERYONE would transfer their business to King Dentistry. Less/no pain, better results, super competent staff from the front desk to the back rooms… this is THE dentist office in the VA Beach. Bet me money!
