Knowles Smith & Associates LLP is a well-established dental practice group that primarily operates under the name Village Family Dental. Founded in 1985 by Dr. Michael Knowles in St. Pauls, North Carolina, the practice started as a small, community-focused dental office. It pioneered the "Family Dental Group Practice" model, aiming to centralize comprehensive
dental care and reduce the need for patients to be referred to distant specialists.
In 1992, Dr. Terrance Smith, a prosthodontist, joined the practice, leading to the formal name change to Knowles, Smith and Associates, PA (now LLP). Over the years, the group has expanded significantly, opening multiple offices across North Carolina, including Fayetteville, Hope Mills, Eastover, St. Pauls, Raeford, and Laurinburg.
