Let me start by saying…. I love going to the dentist for routine cleanings. . I view it as a privilege and a necessity. This was my first experience at Kulhanek & Romanek with new dental insurance. I booked the appt a month ago (my HMO dental insurance assigned the office to me months ago) but they didn’t have availability and it was difficult to reach them via phone, so I was just happy to get an appt. I came in excited to have my teeth cleaned. The office appeared older and had older TV’s and dental equipment but it was clean and well organized. My first interaction with Dr Romanek was fairly normal but became increasingly concerning after a series of events: 1. She continued to reach into my mouth without exam gloves (during an oral exam, during dental X-rays, during conversation) and I did not observe hand washing prior to her continuing to come in contact with my mouth without gloves.

2. She hand scaled my teeth so aggressively/painfully that I spoke out on 3 separate occasions, with the last one I literally sat up and said STOP DOC because she stabbed me with the hand scaler and I was bleeding. She did not apologize and merely told me that was “didn’t mess around” and I wasn’t bleeding much. 3. She performed partial dental X-rays (3) on my teeth then blamed the insurance for not covering more. I then pulled up my insurance and showed her my plan shows I should have annual full mouth X-rays. She did do 1 additional X-ray-but not full mouth. I’m currently under orthodontic treatment and explained my concerns with bone loss and she still was reluctant. 4. She told me I would need conventional braces after my invisalign treatment - in which I replied…for what purpose, if my teeth are aligned? 5.

I asked for a toothbrush/paste kit that I normally receive after every cleaning everywhere else and the staff replied that I don’t get one with my HMO insurance. Unheard of and honestly it’s a courtesy from the dentist not the insurance- I know other dentists. But they did have a basket of high fructose corn syrup fruit snacks at the front desk for clients. 6. I did not get a full routine exam/cleaning- I did not get flossed or full mouth Rads or a full oral exam - in which my gums and cheeks are examined, not just teeth. All in all, I did not have a good experience at Dr Romanek’s practice. I am left with a wound on my upper palate that burns when I’ve eaten/drank anything the past 2 days from her rough handling during my cleaning.

Clean, friendly & affordable! Dr. Romanek & staff were just wonderful! Very scared of the dentist in general but she gave me a great experience! See yous again in 6 months!!

I have a great experience every time I go to Dr. Claudia Romanek. Dr. Romanek has always been honest and does her best to educate you on procedures. Her friendly personality always makes me feel at ease.

I have been nervous about seeing a dentist since I had a bad experience as a child, until I met Dr. Claudia Romanek. Her office staff are very friendly and welcoming. I have recommended her to many family members and friends.

Amazing staff & excellent dentists!! Doctors Romanek & Kulhanek are the best! Both doctors are very kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Dr. Romanek was very kind and answered all my questions and concerns. Overall, my visit was great. I definitely will look forward to coming to my monthly check ups.
