What an incredible staff! They made my dental dilemma into an easy and useful solution! 5 stars! Well done, Dr. Riewer and staff!

I have to give a big shout-out to the nice woman who helped me on the phone, Crystal! I've been calling around dentists in Minnesota all day to try and find someone accepting patients with the Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, and have mostly been answered with a sharp "no" and no additional help. Crystal actually had a list of practices on hands that WERE accepting my insurance and gladly waited while I got a pen to write them down.
So while I can't rate the doctors or treatment there, I can give a dazzling review for their reception! Way to go, Crystal!

Disclaimer: This review encompasses 5+ years of experiences and may not be entirely relevant/ reflective of Lake Ridge Dental's current state. Most dates/ time-frames are approximate, not fact; although I'm sure this review will get picked apart given the response to the only other review that isn't a perfect 5/5. . . Approximately 5ish years ago, I was required (per the military) to have a dental exam conducted for annual readiness. Given my long history with Lake Ridge Dental, I opted to visit them for an exam/ teeth-cleaning. The exam portion went as usual: x-rays and probing; however, upon completion, I was informed that I could not have my teeth cleaned as I REQUIRED an SRP/ "deep-cleaning," mostly due to it being ~3 years since my last cleaning. Since I'm not well-versed in dental care, I scheduled the first of 4(?) sessions, and handed in the form to the military stating that I required further work. This marked the beginning of an incredibly frustrating process.
Due to the form stating that my dental health was "requiring immediate attention within 12 months," I was (justifiably) expected to undergo the SRP; HOWEVER, my appointment was cancelled due to insurance denying it as necessary. The staff at Lake Ridge firmly insisted that it was necessary and advised that I could pay out-of-pocket ($1000+ if I recall). The military declined to assist with the bill (understandably) until I could be seen by a DoD dentist. Upon examination by the DoD, it was determined that the procedure was *potentially* unnecessary. I was advised to purchase a Waterpik (or equivalent generic) and use twice daily for 2 months. I was inspected again 2 months later by the same DoD dentist who stated that the initial buildup was significantly better, clearing me as "in good health. " Fast-forward to a few weeks ago- I was again overdue for an annual dental exam (I missed the drill weekend for the free DoD exam). I called Lake Ridge Dental to schedule an exam and cleaning; however, my insurance changed, to which the receptionist abruptly informed me that I could not see them (again, understandable) and hung up immediately. I visited a different office today, underwent an exam and routine cleaning, and was told that my teeth and gums were both in good condition- despite never undergoing the $1000+/ session SRP.
Again, I understand that different offices may have different policies and procedures. I also understand how complex dental care is and by no means consider myself well-versed in it; however, I find it really hard to believe that TWO separate dentists disagreed with the necessity of the procedure and that Lake Ridge wasn't simply trying to "up-sell. " I gave two-stars (instead of one) mainly due to Dr. Manke- I've only ever had "good" experiences with him, albeit brief ones. He's quick, thorough, and professional every time. I'm not sure whose call it was to recommend the SRP, but I really wish that the staff at Lake Ridge Dental would have handled it differently. At the very least, if the procedure was actually more "preventative," they could have conveyed that to me and noted it on the form rather than stating that I was in URGENT need of having it done. Transparency goes a LONG ways- especially in a field that is already notorious for being un-trustworthy.
