Detailed Introduction

Lanz Pediatric Dentistry is a dental practice specifically designed to cater to the oral health needs of infants, children, and adolescents in McMurray, Pennsylvania. Located at 3402 Washington Rd Suite 205, the practice is led by Dr. Molly Lanz, a highly experienced pediatric dentist with a strong background in caring for children's smiles. Dr. Molly Lanz grew up in the South Hills of Pittsburgh and was inspired to pursue dentistry by her father, Dr. Richard Lanz, a pediatrician. She earned her dental degree from The Ohio State University and completed her pediatric dentistry studies at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Her career began as a pediatric dentist for the United States Army in Bamberg, Germany, before she returned to Pittsburgh to continue her dedicated care for children in the region. Lanz Pediatric Dentistry's core mission revolves around providing a comfortable, positive, and educational dental experience for young patients. They aim to establish a strong foundation for lifelong oral health, emphasizing the importance of early dental visits, as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (around age 1 and every six months thereafter). The practice offers a comprehensive range of services tailored to children's developing teeth and unique needs, including: Preventive & Diagnostic Care: This includes comprehensive oral evaluations, dental cleanings (prophylaxis), fluoride treatments, oral hygiene instructions, dental X-rays, and dental sealants to protect against cavities. Restorative Treatments: For teeth that require repair, they provide composite (white) fillings, pulp treatment, bonded restorations, dental crowns, and extractions. Sedation Dentistry: Recognizing that some children may experience anxiety, Lanz Pediatric Dentistry offers various sedation options to ensure a relaxed and comfortable visit. These include Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas), in-office IV sedation, and general anesthesia at a surgery center for more extensive procedures or highly anxious patients. Space Maintenance: To ensure proper alignment and prevent future orthodontic issues. The team at Lanz Pediatric Dentistry is committed to making each visit a positive one, helping children feel at ease and educating both children and parents on proper oral hygiene practices. Their approach focuses on gentle care and building trust, which is crucial for fostering a child's positive perception of dental care. Dr Molly is wonderful. Both of my children are under 10 and my oldest has had to have several fillings to correct the lack of a flossing habit. Both kids love it here as the staff is caring and attentive. We don’t have to fight them to go to the dentist! The office is clean and modern and they really do provide excellent care for my littles.

Dr Molly is very kind and is never annoyed or agitated by the questions we toss her way as parents. She’s also remarkable at getting through to kids on their level. We had an incident last year where we had to call for a potential emergency. Dr Molly called back in a very timely manner and she was able to explain in detail what was happening and how to mitigate the issue.

As a hockey parent, the only thing we went else where for was a mouth guard (as they are not able to make custom ones on site). Also as a hockey parent, my son has exceptionally long hair and we have never experienced any temperature reading issues. We appreciate the amazing staff, online forms, text reminders, and BIRTHDAY cards! The little touches help to make all the difference!

Brought my 4 year old for her first dentist appointment here. The staff were all amazing and kind and patient. My daughter told me she was scared before we went in, but after we got there she had absolutely no problems with the cleaning and teeth check. They take their time with your kid, show them the tools, and explain everything so the kids are comfortable. Highly recommend!!

Dr. Lanz and staff are phenomenal! They are kind, caring, and attentive. Truly an amazing experience.

Thank you for making my children feel comfortable and, dare I say, excited for their future appointments! As a mother, your confidence in your provider is important. I felt at ease knowing my children were in great hands through every step of the appointment, from the check in process to the exam. The kids also have a great view during their cleaning! :) I highly recommend Lanz Pediatric Dentistry!

This is the first time in my life I have taken the time to leave a one star review, but it’s necessary in this case. We discovered that Dr. Lanz did not take our insurance, however, because our child needed a tooth extraction, and we wanted to get it taken care of as soon as possible, we chose to keep our tooth extraction appointment with Dr. Lanz and pay out of pocket for the procedure while seeking other in-network care for his other dental work. The wait for an extraction from other pediatric dentists was months out. We explained this to the office staff, and on Friday, they accepted our decision and kept our appointment on Monday for an extraction.

On Monday morning at 6:21 am we received a text saying our appointment would need to be rescheduled. When office staff called me back an hour later they explained that Dr. Lanz wanted to cancel until we decided whether we were going with her for all of our care or another dentist because “she prefers to treat the whole patient” Keep in mind, she is not treating the whole patient - we see another dentist for cleaning and maintenance and were only referred to her for procedures that required sedation. I explained to office staff that we had already made our decision: We want to do what’s best for our child and take care of his tooth as soon as possible while seeking the rest of his care in-network. I told them that they should also be prioritizing the needs of their patients and not just their personal preference to be involved in “all the care” The office staff talked with Dr. Lanz and still the decision was final: They had no issue canceling an appointment the DAY OF and let a small child sit with a tooth that needs extracted for a few extra months so they could suit their own preferences.

This is disgraceful. I’m glad everyone thinks Dr. Lanz is so kind and wonderful but prioritizing her own needs and preferences over those over her patients is neither kind nor wonderful.
