Yet another adult who was traumatized as a kid going here. Being physically held down and told that my mother wouldn’t come back and get me if I didn’t stop crying after having 3 teeth pulled back to back. Please don’t bring your children here.

I’m 32 now, have been to combat and would rather go back to Afghanistan than this dentist. Maybe in the last 20 years he’s changed his ways, but judging by how many other people have said they had the same experience, this man should never work with a child again.

My daughter, a muscular dystrophy patient, had an explosion of movement after Dr. Kotlow performed her tongue tie. I am deeply appreciative of Dr. Kotlow's efforts to inform the public about the inhibitory effects a tongue tie has on movement. He was highly recommended to me by numerous movement specialists. Dr. Kotlow's work was 100% worth the 10 hour round trip.

I hemmed and hawed about having my daughter’s tongue and lip tie released. Although a simple procedure, it felt like such a big decision at the same time. Dr Kotlow was referred by two separate people, a lactation consultant and a speech language pathologist. Of course I then did my own search into him and found his Google reviews. I hope other parents see this review and it counterbalances any of his negative ones. His office has some strict rules - fill out your paperwork in advance, come to the office prepared, no outside gear like car seats or strollers in the office, you have to wear a mask. This may seem like a lot to some, but if you take a second to think about it, it makes perfect sense. The office is small and honestly maneuvering my stroller / car seat inside would have been a nightmare. The staff are very kind and if you need an extra set of hands due to having to hold your little one they are happy to assist. The masks actually put me at ease. I don’t carry one on me since COVID restrictions were lifted, but the office is happy to provide one.

These people see germy kids and put their hands inside their mouths. My daughter is too young to be vaccinated against anything yet, and with flu / RSV season, I felt very safe bringing here there. The paperwork aspect is something that should be the gold standard in all medical practices, but it isn’t. Holding their patients to that standard of preparation allows the office to run smoothly. This is the only Drs appointment I’ve ever had for myself or my daughter where was seen in a timely manner with no prolonged wait time. Not only do they send you all of the paperwork via email ahead of time, they also send you the office rules so you are prepared for what to expect. It’s organized and comprehensive. Next Id like to make note of is the Drs personality. He definitely isn’t “warm and fuzzy”, but he is kind and cares about his patients. He is straightforward and to the point - but if you have a question or voice any concerns, he is happy to give further explanation or ease any anxiety you may have. If you want someone to hold your hand and dote on you, maybe pick a different office… but if you want the best in the field who will ensure the best possible care for your little one / this is the place to be.

Finally there are comments mentioning the video you are directed to watch prior to the laser procedure. The video is filled with information about what a tongue tie is, what to expect during the procedure, and how to care for your little one afterwards. It also goes over the most common questions that parents ask. Once you are done watching the video of the doctor returns, and you have the opportunity to ask him any extra questions that you may have. Again, I can see how this would come off as impersonal, but it’d EFFICIENT. The personal aspect is when the Dr returns and rather than having to explain everything to each parent, he can take the time to focus only on the individual extra questions each family may have. After the procedure he reviews all of the information in persons again, showing you how to do the exercises to ensure a good outcome postop AND you are given a paper copy of all of the information in a folder before you leave. Despite my back and forth for weeks on if I wanted to subject my daughter to any procedure - I’m happy that we went through with it, and I’m happy it was Dr Kotlow who did it. Right now we are only 7 hours postop and I know we still have some work to do in therapy to maximize outcomes - but I have already noticed improvements in my daughters sleep and latch. I highly highly recommend to any parents to come to this office - and to read through the new patient paperwork so you know exactly what to expect.
