Detailed Introduction

Lorain County Health & Dentistry (LCH&D) is a well-established non-profit organization dedicated to providing accessible and high-quality healthcare services to the underserved population of Lorain County, Ohio, and surrounding communities. Established in 2002, LCH&D was designated a Federally Qualified Health Center "Look Alike" by the Health Resources and Services Administration, signifying its commitment to serving vulnerable populations. LCH&D offers a comprehensive range of integrated healthcare services, including primary medical care, dental care (hygiene, restorative, and emergency), vision services, behavioral health services, and pharmacy services. Their dental clinics are equipped with modern technology and staffed by professionals providing care for patients of all ages. The LCH&D Pharmacy, located in Elyria, offers medication consultation, education, and free home delivery for most prescriptions, and is open to both LCH&D patients and the general public. A core aspect of LCH&D's mission is to remove barriers to care. They offer a Sliding Fee Discount Program for qualifying insured and uninsured patients, ensuring affordability. Additionally, they provide assistance with Medicaid, Medicare, and Marketplace Exchange insurance plan applications, onsite lab/blood draw services, referrals to specialists, and translation/interpretation services for non-English speaking and deaf/hearing-impaired patients. They also offer transportation support through Medicaid/Managed Care Plans and their own services. LCH&D operates multiple convenient locations across Lorain County, including Oberlin, Lorain, Elyria, and North Ridgeville, making healthcare more accessible to residents throughout the area. Their commitment extends to community well-being, fostering partnerships with local organizations and actively engaging with the community to improve health outcomes for all.

Staff typically lacks introspection necessary when working with disabled individuals. They have displayed little understanding of ethical interpersonal navigation. Better at reading social cues than me, though.

Called for an appointment and gave them my insurance information and was told I was set. Show up for my appointment and suddenly my insurance isn't accepted by them. They tell me the insurance companys list is wrong. They ask me if I am in pain. I confirm that yes, I am actively in pain. Can I pay out of pocket for care? "No you can't because you have insurance.

" Do not waste your time here. Maybe the doctors are fine but the staff and billing will give you the run around and cost you your time and then tell you it's your fault. Their statement is: "Lorain County Health & Dentistry provides affordable, quality medical and dental services for all persons regardless of ability to pay. " This is entirely false and they will proudly send you away, even with cash in hand. Disappointed in Lorain County.

The staff was not friendly at all (aside from 1/2 employees at the desk). Dr barely put hands on my wife and I and didn’t perform any preventative care. Maybe said 5 sentences to me the whole visit. Took some X-rays at the beginning. 2/3 of them didn’t fall under preventative care and so we had to pay a $99 deductible for each of us. We were never asked if we had recent X-rays from our previous dentist (we did). We were made to believe that the first visit would be fully covered under our insurance. As it was supposed to be preventative.

Financial person wouldn’t get back to me. I had to keep calling. When I got ahold of her she said they didn’t know we’d be charged until after the visit. Lady on the phone said to someone that my insurance never covers anything when transferring me. No one at this place seemed to care. Sounds like this happens a lot. So we payed $200 with insurance for literally nothing. No cleaning, and less than 10 minutes of the dentists time.

If you’re going to go here. Ask every step of the way which services are preventative and which ones are to milk your insurance. Told them we wouldn’t come back. They said “okay”. $200 is still a small price to pay to identify problematic patient care.

If I could give them less than one star I would. The doctor never spoke with me. She never gave me a minute. When my daughter came out from the back room, and sat down, she didn't even know if The doctor was done or not. . . I went to the front desk to ask if My kid was done, because we didn't know. . . we did not know what teeth they did. . . 5 minutes later the doctor was with another patient, so we cannot speak with her.

. . There was no definition of what they did anywhere on the bill, It was just a charge on a piece of paper, with no name of the business on it either. . . I can't understand this void. . . when I asked to give me a breakdown of what they did to my kids teeth, he just gave me a hard time and really didn't want to give me the information, so he didn't. Thay Acted like this was something special I was asking for, It should be automatic. . . I cannot understand This "over lording" feeling he was giving me.

. . I made it very clear what I was asking for. . . He gave me a hard time to give me a hard time, This is the worst experience at a doctor's I've ever had. Ever. . . I will never ever go back here. Ever.
