I was referred to this office by a wonderful dentist, and we both experienced the unprofessionalism at Dr. Snehal Patel’s office. I had the most awful experience with Dr. Snehal Patel, DDS, MD, a dental surgeon in Lorton, Alexandria, VA. Their office took panoramic scans for both of my children, charged me close to $500, did not provide copies of the scans, and promised to call me with the results to decide the course of treatment. That call never happened.

Despite my efforts to reach them over two months, I never received a call back. Every time I called, the doctor was out of the office, and I was assured he would call back, which never happened. Near the end of the second month, I called them every other day for a week, only to be told by the admin that the doctor had left a note saying no treatment was needed. This made no sense, as we had been visiting this office for follow-ups for almost a year and a half. It was clear they never paid attention to our case. When I tried to cancel an appointment for my other daughter a week in advance, they refused, despite their 48-hour cancellation policy.

They rescheduled her for another date, then later informed me that the date was incorrect due to new employees in training. They did everything in their power to take our money but gave us a horrible experience and didn't even follow their own policy. Their prioritization of money over the best interests of their patients is embarrassing. I informed the dentist who referred me to them, to prevent anyone else from experiencing such a terrible ordeal. It was an awful experience.

Thanks for the flowers, I thought my surgery went VERY WELL, not much swelling or pain!!! Taking the Amoxicillin, a GREAT precaution for oral surgery. I really liked your prenumbing swab of the area before you gave me shots, and the options on pain managment (listed on web site). But you should confirm this before the day of procedure so the patient can decide BEFORE showing up. Also the light was VERY powerful shinning in the eyes.

Recommend putting a cloth or blind over the patient's eyes. Thanks again for pulling my tooth and will see you September 13th.

Edit: response from practice didnt help. I am VERY familiar with how insurance works. The assistant coded some issues incorrectly so as to make it look like I would be reimbursed when I would not. She used codes that no other practice used. Original review: Avoid this practice. I am certain Dr Patel is an outstanding surgeon. I question the ethics of his business practices and how they handle patients money.

DO NOT sign any documents with this practice or at least wait until you get a FORMAL written estimate from your insurance company. Here is how the con works. They "estimate" insurance costs badly (i. e. make it look like your insurance pays a lot), then very oddly ask you to sign a document saying you will pay whatever insurance doesn't cover. It felt odd. Then they request formal estimates from the insurance company after you have signed the document.

Most likely it will be a "oh we are sorry our estimates were off a little. You will need to pay an additional $5,000". This is VERY unethical! They should get estimates first and let you know the REAL costs. I am in shock that this is how a medical office operates. I was on the phone with the insurance company for an hour and even they were surprised as he is in their network and contractually required to abide by certain practices.

I went to my primary dentist regarding what turned out to be a cracked tooth that needed to be removed and the process of an implant started. My dentist recommended Dr Patel's practice as his first choice for me. I found out that my son had been a patient of Dr Patel's and he enthusiastically recommended Lorton Springfield Oral Surgery. My dentist called and Dr Patel was able to see me the next day.

From the time I entered the office of Lorton Springfield Oral Surgery to the time I left the staff were friendly, professional and understanding of my situation. I thought I would be in the chair for at least 2 hours but Dr Patel's knowledge and expertise cut that time in half. Understanding my concerns regarding needles and the stress of this procedure Dr Patel and staff made the process practically painless. It was great to feel that I was heard and my concerns addressed.

After all was completed I left with the feeling that I was truly appreciated as a patient and now a friend. I would recommend Lorton Springfield Oral Surgery to family and friends.
