4 years ago I went to this dentist because the VA was swamped and sent a few patients to outside doctors. I got a regular cleaning and some X-rays. The doctor said I had a small cavity in #15 and it would need to be filled. I had some cavities filled in the past and never had issues, so I trusted what she said. She did the filling and a few days later that same tooth started to ache and hurt. After dealing with the pain for about a week, I decided to get a second opinion. Another dentist said the cavity was drilled too far and it hit a nerve, the tooth would need a root canal. She had also attempted to do a root canal on a lower tooth and stabbed me in the upper lip with one of the small files.

That tooth ended up being extracted by the VA hospital due to her cracking it further(she was supposedly filing down that area and accidentally hit the tooth with the drill). She sent me out to Dr. Dodson who did a RC on #15. Before I saw him however, the left side of my neck started to hurt really bad and under both collar bones. I had never had pain from these areas until she did the did the cavity filling on #15. My neck pain would get worse over the next few years and end up with thoracic outlet problems. The #15 tooth had to be extracted in 2017 due to a failed root canal. Here it is 4 years later and I still struggle with severe neck pain from that initial cavity filling.

Also during that time after the filling, the left side of my neck swole twice its size. It stayed like that for almost a year. Something else to note during the procedure, she injected my mouth to numb it and a few minutes later my heart started to race and I felt like I was going to pass out. I thought this was odd as previous fillings never had any issues at all. She claimed it was normal and would pass. Its been a rough 4 years from that moment and I hope others learn from my experience.
