Medgaus Dental Group was a prominent dental practice with locations in Monroeville and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, founded and led by Dr. Carl Medgaus. The practice distinguished itself through its comprehensive range of dental services, a strong emphasis on patient comfort, and a commitment to advanced dental technology, particularly in the field of dental implants. Dr. Carl Medgaus, the driving force behind the group, had an extensive career spanning over 51 years. He was highly regarded for his expertise in cosmetic and restorative dentistry, having placed over 5,000 implants with an impressive 99.3% success rate. Dr. Medgaus was an innovator, notably developing the "Stabili-Teeth®" procedure, a groundbreaking full-arch dental implant solution designed to provide immediate and affordable permanent tooth replacement, often at less than half the cost of traditional implants. This technique ingeniously combined narrow diameter implants (NDIs) with conventional-sized dental implants to offer stable, long-lasting results without extensive bone grafting in many cases. The services offered by Medgaus Dental Group extended beyond specialized implant procedures to include a wide array of general and restorative dentistry treatments. These encompassed composite fillings, dentures, root canals, crowns and bridges, gum grafting, and preventive dentistry. The practice prided itself on providing "all-in-house" care, meaning patients could receive a broad spectrum of treatments without being referred to multiple specialists, enhancing convenience and continuity of care. Patient experience was a key focus at Medgaus Dental Group. They incorporated advanced technology such as Vatech CBCT (3D imaging), DIAGNOdent for early cavity detection, and iTero® digital scanners for precise restorations. The practice also offered various sedation options, including local anesthetic, oral sedation, IV sedation, and nitrous oxide, to alleviate dental anxiety and ensure comfortable appointments for all patients. Dr. Medgaus partnered with an experienced anesthesiologist for IV sedation and held hospital privileges, demonstrating a commitment to patient well-being and pain management. Tragically, Dr. Carl Medgaus passed away on January 15, 2025, at the age of 76. His sudden death led to the closure of Medgaus Dental Group, leaving many patients who had prepaid for services in a difficult position as they sought reimbursements and alternative providers. Dr. Medgaus's legacy, however, remains through his significant contributions to implant dentistry and the innovative Stabili-Teeth® protocol, which revolutionized full-arch tooth replacement for many.
